Describe 2-3 characteristics of a profession and how your daily practice reflects the chosen characteristics.
Two characteristics that I feel are important for any profession, but specifically professional nursing, are Compassion and good communication skills. I have to practice these skills every day in order to do my job to the best of my ability and ensure quality patient care.
Compassion is important when providing effective care to patients who are undergoing physical, spiritual, or emotional pain. In order to provide care to a patient you must understand where they are coming from and empathize with their current situation or problem.
