Pollution

There are many things that affect the environment, and pollution is an example. Pollution can be defined as the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects. The different types of pollution are the following: Water Pollution, Air Pollution, Soil Pollution, Thermal Pollution, RadioActive Pollution, Noise Pollution, Light pollution (Admin).

Water Pollution is the type of pollution that involves the contamination of various bodies of water (Admin).

Causes

What causes water pollution? Industrial wastes get dumped into these bodies of water. This then causes the metabolic rate of underwater animal life to increase because of the the thermal pollution causing them to eat more in shorter time, which then leads to a reduction of resources (HSN). The food chain is alteredgets screwed up causing the biodiversity to be affected in the region (HSN). High water affects the reproductive cycles of the aquatic species, so as algae covers increases, it reduces the oxygen level causes shorter lifespan of aquatic animals.
