When warm water is let out into natural water bodies, it depletes the oxygen levels in the water (HSN). This then affects the aquatic animal and plant life, which disturbs the surrounding ecosystem (HSN). Lack of oxygen causes anaerobic conditions in deeper areas, resulting in rise of bacteria colonies where there is abundant food supply (HSN). This then causes the metabolic rate of underwater animal life to increase because of the the thermal pollution causing them to eat more in shorter time, which then leads to a reduction of resources (HSN). The food chain is alteredgets screwed up causing the biodiversity to be affected in the region (HSN). High water affects the reproductive cycles of the aquatic species, so as algae covers increases, it reduces the oxygen level causes shorter lifespan of aquatic animals.
