Based on the details that we have learned about extroverts we can safely assume that they will voluntarily involve themselves and generate great relationships immediately, therefore a strong leader can emerge and bring others together. It may seem that extroverts would be the perfect candidate for a management position but, this type of management style can lead to a pushover style of management. If they are constantly trying to impress or earn the respect of others extroverts can get burned out fairly quickly. One subfield that is particularly interesting is personality psychology. Personality psychology is a branch of psychology that studies personality and its variation between individuals.
In this essay I will describe the four major theories of personality and identify the advantages and disadvantages of each. The first major theory of personality is psychodynamic which was created by Sigmund Freud. The second major theory of personality is trait or five-factor model which is the most scientifically supported model. The third major theory of personality is humanistic, and Carl Rogers was the best known humanistic theorist. Finally, the fourth major theory of personality is social cognitive which was developed by social learning theorists.
Extroverts are generally people who have the need to obtain gratification from what is outside the self. They tend to enjoy human interactions and tend to be enthusiastic, talkative, assertive, and sometimes they can be loud. Also, they tend to be energized and tend to thrive off of being around other people. Extroverts enjoy taking part in large gatherings, parties and business as they tend to be more energized to be around people and enjoy their company.
