The Equal Employment Opportunity of the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) administers and ensures Agency compliance with the laws, regulations, policies, and guidance that prohibit discrimination in the Federal workplace based on race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, genetic information, or reprisal. To this day women continue to experience problems that hinder them from being successful in the workplace. There are policies and laws that protect women from discrimination that some women are scared to enforce. The gender discrimination in the workplace not only affects their salary but also can stress women and cause them to become unhappy at work. Some women attitudes toward the company facing gender discrimination could affect their motivation in completing their job at work and could arise a fight for equality between the genders. For example, if a male employee is working for a junior employee and is promoted ahead of her then that is going to create conflict between the two genders. Automatically the promotion will be looked at as gender discrimination and the woman in the situation probably will not respect the man that received the promotion. Although the problem may be uncomfortable to discuss it is something that can be taking care of and can reflect off the company in a positive effect once a solution is brought to the table. A lot of the times the women that feel like they are being discriminating against find it difficult to speak up to anyone about the situation so advisory was suggest that she pull the manager or supervisor aside or go to human resources. Some people even feel better with just writing an anonymous letter if so that should be fine as long as the company is a where or the issue and once the company is aware it is in their hands to handle the situation. If you feel that you have done all that you could and after reporting it to someone with managerial status and nothing has been done about it you can go file a charge of employment discrimination at the EEOC office closest to where you live. After you do so then the situation will be investigated. It is a time frame from when you can file the employment discrimination charge the 180 calendar day filing deadline is extended to 300 calendar days if a state or local agency enforces a state or local law that prohibits employment discrimination on the same basis.
