English as a Medium of Instruction in Non-English Speaking Countries
Nowadays, English is the global and technology language. English play an important role in the world and it works like a passport because it became the language of technology and the language of internationals. As result, most of the people developed their global businesses through English language. In all over the world there are many opportunities that changes people life to make it better and its English language. There are many non- English speaking countries that use English as a second language and they teach subjects like science and mathematics and etc in their schools. Also they use English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) to provide more opportunity for their development. There are many policy makers and educators who claims that applying English as a Medium of Instruction have many disadvantages like it will have negative impact on mother tongue and cultures in non-English speaking countries. However, English as a medium of instruction is one of the best ways that has positive impact in people life because it provides more opportunity as it became the language of technology and global. This essay will discuss the benefits and opportunities that EMI provides such as educational and global business opportunities.
In a country to improve the educational system that English is not their native language, use of English as a Medium of instruction is one of the best ways. Use of English as a Medium of instruction has many important effects for the education of people in non-Anglophone countries (Dearden, 2014). To sum up, in countries that there are not native English speakers English as medium of instruction is necessary because it helps to have better preference in two important aspect of life such as education and economy. Implementing English as Medium of Instruction helps non-English language learners to improve their education and to develop their economy. EMI assists second language learners globalize their educational offers and they also gain the opportunity to participate in international programs. As mentioned above that if a country that not use English as medium of instruction it just put them away from global education and global economy therefore, EMI is one of the best ways to find ways to develop our capacity.
