Executive summary
The first year of Business Administration program sufficiently covers almost all of the skills described in the Employability skills 2000+ handout from the Conference Board of Canada, at least as well as can be done in a single year.
Each skill is examined and shown how the program transfers knowledge of the skill to the student. One of the recurring items is the major assignments that the students must complete the projects more than the instruction itself is what students learn the most from. I also noticed that more time is spent on teaching communication to students than any other skill in the handout.
There are only two recommendations that I would make, which are:
1. In the computers in business or business communication newer web communication and collaboration applications should be taught. The new forms of digital communication such as twitter, blogs, and RSS are becoming more and more important for companies that want to communicate with their customers. Students will need to know how to use these systems properly.
2. There is no real learning outside of the discipline, any option that is taken in the first year must be within the business admin program. There should be an option or even a requirement to take a course outside of the program.

Conclusion
Just going to college itself is valuable in building all of the skills as experience is more important than instruction in many cases. That being said most of the skills in the Employability Skills 2000+ are covered thoroughly in Business Administration Certificate program, at least as far as possible in a single year of education. There is an emphasis on the fundamental skills and a further focus on the communication portion of that set of skills, and a desire to teach these skills through experience (assignments) instead of instruction.

For every job that you have, you will need to have a certain set of skills to be successful. For example, two people are looking to be hired, but only one person will actually get the job. The two people have near identical resumes but a few things make them different. While the first person was able to articulate his ideas when he was being interviewed, the second person could not. The first person was incredibly dedicated to getting the job while the second person was not. Last but not least, the first person was able to adapt to the fast moving paced job unlike the second person. In the end the first person got the job because of his dedication, flexibility, and communication skills. It would be extremely unbeneficial to go into a job without having, in my opinion, these most important set of skills. While there are several job skills that are essential to being successful, I strongly believe that being dedicated, adaptable, and have phenomenal communication skills are the most important.

Most of today’s businesses requires post high school education in order to obtain more than an entry level administrative assistant position. From my research on schools that offer a degree, diploma or certificate for administrative assistants, I chose to provide information on Bradford School, Kaplan University, and Penn Foster School.
In this report, I will reflect on my professional development throughout this module, from when I started in September, to now. According to Beausaert et al. (2011), ‘the art of self-evaluation is an integral element of reflection and involves critical insight into understanding one 's strengths and limitations’. Yes, I have learned techniques from this course. Realizing that I have already been utilizing the techniques, at home and in school Courses. I have applied some of the organizational management skills. Planning, setting goals and deciding how to achieve them. Organizing, arranging task and people to accomplish the work. Leading, Motivate, direct and influence people and myself work hard to achieve goals. Controlling, monitoring performances compared to goals and take corrective action as needed. In reading, I have learned quite a bit about management and have found this course to be quite enlightening. I am sure I will be able to learn even more techniques that I will apply in the future, to assist me in achieving my goals.
Employability is a multifaceted concept and one of the major subjects of debate in terms of what it is, how it is measured, how it is developed, and who is responsible for it. It is also one of the widely debated issues of accrediting and determining world class higher education institutions which could go a long way in systematically improving the performance of an institution as well as an individual. Most of the studies regarding employability have found lesser understanding of this concept especially in graduates who need to be well versed with the concept of employability as they are the force that ignite this notion and take it forward to the workplaces and to the employers they encounter during their careers. In my degree plan, I realize that I will have to complete my general education classes including English, math, science, history, and the humanities. These classes have the ability to prepare me for the rigorous work that I will face within my core business classes. Program requirements vary based on each institution’s own specific curriculum. However common core courses in business administration programs are mostly centered on financial accounting, business law, economics, finance, organizational behavior, business management, marketing, human resource management and operations management . Through research of my career path, I realize that a Masters in Business Administration would be even more useful because it has the potential to attract potential investors.
