On a day meant for happiness turned into an oblivious nightmare. At home with your whole family and then in the midst of everything a catastrophe transpires when fire breaks through a home. In a blink of an eye, your world as collapsed into a million fragments. A few minutes of happiness as turned into sorrow and pain. As adults, we learn over the years how to cope with tragedies that traumatize us. Adults understand the implications of needing to talk to psychologists. When a fire has taken a child’s safe haven abruptly, it can cause numerous effects to not only the child but also their families, friends, teachers, administrators, and community members. Unfortunately, a tragedy like this can also claim lives as well as damaging property and everlasting pain to the body. It would be imperative to take notes in regards to character, emotions, and strategies that child is using in coping with their feelings in the classroom. I would be the advocate for that child while they are in school. It will help the psychologist to understand what the child has been dealing with and it will give them a clue as to how the child is coping with the tragedy. The information that I give them and their parents’ give them, will help in establishing a plan for the child to work on along with the rest of the

The Great Gatsby, is beautifully written, and uses symbols effectively, drawing the reader in, and piquing their interest from chapter one to chapter nine. The use of color is most common in the novel, with the use of of many colors the author is able to subtly get his point across. Fitzgerald also uses locations like the Valley of Ash. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl opens up with an introduction with a protagonist Linda (Harriet Jacobs) a slave girl which was born as a slave and states her reasons why she kept her autobiography private for so long. As Linda goes on and talk about her lifestyle as women slave, on the other hand I will be comparing the life style of another slave Olaudah Equiano who is a male slave which has a different point perspective of how he uses strategies to gain freedom from his master. How does gender complicate Linda’s (Harriet Jacobs) situation in comparison to Olaudah Equaino’s to gain freedom from their masters? Or does her gender complicate her situation? In a comparison of gender such as female and male there were always big difference which is also stated in the bible, from the Apostle Paul women were created second, sinner first and should always be kept silent. What was the reason why Linda could not get her freedom? Gender , Christianity, Strategies.
PTSD is a mental disorder that comes from suffering from traumatic events. Normally, society has seen it being a war-related disorder. Veterans Healthcare Administration considers PTSD, “medically recognized anxiety disorder that occurs in normal individuals under extremely stressful conditions” (3). Sufferers of PTSD can also be children as traumatic events like natural disasters, abuse, and many other events in which people of any age still struggle to cope with becomes a life-long uphill battle to get over. Even for myself, I suffer from PTSD, and I do not look for sympathy from my audience, but for others to second-handedly understand towards not just the children, but all sufferers of PTSD.

After 229 years, it is time for a major change in the White House. The change needs to be different, confident, and positive. The change that is needed to be great again is Donald Trump. Trump is already changing America for the better and is likely to win the Republican general election with his skyrocketing support from Americans. Trump shakes the nation with his energizing force, which gets people’s attention. He should be the president of the United States for many reasons. He is different from a regular politician, his confidence is contagious, he is tough on immigration, he wants to return manufacturing jobs to America, and lastly, he has more a more aggressive trade stance than his competitors.
For instance, I learned that one major component of resilience is physical health. Thus, it is imperative for children to eat well, exercise, and get six to eight hours of sleep each night. Another component of resilience is school support. This means that children need support from another adult that does not pertain to their family, such as a school counselor. Furthermore, I learned several strategies that schools and teachers can implement to help their students overcome traumatic experiences. For example, I learned that teachers should keep familiar routines, maintain high expectations for their students, and avoid focusing on their students’ negative behaviors. In addition, schools can be flexible and give these students time to speak to their teachers, counselors, or staff members. Talking to any of these individuals helps students express their feelings instead of bottling them up. Overall, this article helped me acquire more knowledge on resilience and strategies that I can one day use with my future
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Harper Lee identifies many charcters in the beginning of this book. She was very descriptive of all the characters in the beginning of the book. Each character was described from Scout’s point of view. Throughout the book, Lee lets the reader see some of the characters in their natural environments. They are still written through Scout’s eyes, but instead of passing by them on the sidewalk, Scout is in their home sitting with them, or hearing personal stories about them. Three of these characters that Scout points out specifically are Jem Finch, Aunt Alexandra, and Tom Robinson.
Children that go through divorce suffer depression, learning difficulties, and other psychological problems more frequently than those of intact families. Which is why its important to listen or take care for your childs needs after a divorce. I want you to think of your youngest sibling and all the great memories you have with them and how much you love them. Now imagine all of that taken away forever and not being able to say goodbye. Well a little boy about six years old committed suicide in his kitchen. He took off his belt, tied it into a makeshift noose and hung himself from the freezer handle of the families refrigerator. His sister who was 13 found him 20 minutes later and was screaming and told her parents. They called 911 and did C.P.R. but it was too late the little boy was gone. Don’t you think you would be damaged from this somehow? A study that Judith Wallerste...
Childhood Trauma is defined as “The experience of an event by a child that is emotionally painful or distressful, which often results in lasting mental and physical effects.” (The National Institute of Mental Health). Childhood trauma is an epidemic that seems to be running its way throughout the world. Childhood trauma is a worldwide problem that can affect anyone and everyone. People tend to just try and help the problems that occur due to the childhood trauma, but not the problem itself. Many of these issues will also follow the child into their adult years and will cause negative effects. This paper will discuss the negative outcomes for a child who suffers from childhood trauma, and the negative outcomes that can follow them into adulthood.
Williams, R. (2007). The psychosocial consequences for children of mass violence, terrorism and disasters. International Review Of Psychiatry, 19(3), 263-277.
According to the American Psychological Association, trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event. Some terrible events that happen all too often are rape, natural disasters or an accident. Immediately following the event shock and denial are likely to occur, but in the long-term flashbacks, unpredictable emotions and troubled relationships can arise. Defining emotional trauma on a child. Emotional trauma in a child can be created by bullying, emotional abuse, death of loved ones, separation from parent, or chaos and dysfunction in the household. Child symptoms of trauma can be very similar to depression symptoms. They can over sleep or sleep to little, unexplained anger, trouble focusing, obsessive worrying and some anxiety. How a child experiences an event and how it’s handled by those around him have an effect on how traumatizing it can be, notes Dr. Jerry Bubrick (Child Mind Institute , 2017). People grieve at different speeds and the way the child grieves is not the correct indicator on how the child will cope later. Defining physical trauma on a child. Physical trauma on a child is considered non-accidental or the cause of physical injury. Some households that suffer from alcoholism/substance abuse and anger issues have higher occurrences of child abuse as compared to households without according to psychology today. Sometimes kids that are abused are unaware that they are being abused and are victims of child

Throughout life you will be faced with all types of different scenarios. Whether positive or negative it is imperative that you know how to react accordingly to those types of situations. All my life I have been faced with both positive and negative criticism. As a young girl I did not handle it very well, but now as an adult I now know that my family and friends only had my best interest at heart. Now at the tender age of 32, I try my best to instill in my kids that the world we live in can be cruel and harsh at times but we just have to make the best out of everything that we may choose to do. Everything that is done has a consequence. Criticism can be good or bad but some people avoid giving or
