Introduction:
Electronic commerce is the use of the internet or a network to transfer and use data. It can also be defined as the use of the internet to buy and sell products and services. This can be either through business to business or business to customer or customer to customer. (Investor Words, 2013) With the use of the internet more and more business’ have to find more ways to interact and supply things for their customers. With the big business’ doing this such as Amazon (Investor Words, 2013) in order to compete, it may mean that small business have to do this as well. The following will highlight the use of ecommerce with a small businesses and the impact of implementing it or not implementing it and also the impact of going to implement ecommerce This will also be put up against what the impact on a small business would be if they did not use ecommerce and what the impact this would be on a small business within the conclusion.
The Bad Impact:
Loss of Privacy
When a business wants to bring in the use ecommerce they have to consider the privacy of the information that they collect when using the internet to sell and buy services to Customers. When doing this, they collect data of the customers, whether it’s on their purchases, there personal details and they also use these to details to send personalized advertisements (OverBlog, 2013). Some have argued that this can be an invasion of privacy. This could especially impact a small business because it not using the proper legalities could make the business get lots of fines, and result in them having to pay a lot of money that could be damaging to the business (OverBlog, 2013).
