Since 2008, Electronic Cigarettes have become widely popular across the United States, despite the obvious health benefits the long term health effects of “smoking” electronic cigarettes are still unknown to researchers today. Electronic Cigarettes are the answer to a safer method of consuming nicotine despite its more popular tobacco products. Even though the effects of consuming large amounts of nicotine in a persons’ system is unknown, the unbanning of electronic cigarettes in Los Angeles decrease the harm second-hand smoke causes as well as the health risks associated with toxic tobacco products such as cancer.

Electronic Cigarettes are healthy, not only providing a safer alternative to a person's nicotine craving and a cleaner version of the traditional nicotine supplement. Electronic Cigarettes are simpler than the traditional tobacco cigarette although despite its appearance and purpose the similarities end.(Connor, Charles D.) Electronic Cigarettes contain an atomizer to turn a liquid solution into vapor; simulating smoking although without all the toxic chemicals. The main ingredients in liquid vapors are: nicotine or flavoring, glycerin, and propylene glycol- more commonly known as a food preservative. (E Cig Study)

These few ingredients remain insignificant when compared to the 599 ingredients in a single cigarette, and when burned produce more than 4,000 toxic and carcinogenic compounds. (Cigarette Ingredients) Electronic cigarettes clearly show a healthier perspective for Americans than the traditional tobacco products. Tobacco Products kill approximately 480,000 Americans annually yet the government hasn’t taken action, banning electronic cigarettes solely on fear of uncertainty.
