One study mentioned from the University of Oxford which found when children play video games for an hour or less they were more happy and showed fewer social and emotional issues than those who played for over three hours a day or not at all. Although a study from the University of Oxford is mentioned, one can’t be sure that it is accurate to trust. There is not enough information given to assure their research project was conducted accurately and is a reliable source. More undetailed research is mentioned saying games can give children important life skills like, problem solving and lateral thinking just to name a couple. Failing to give any detailed information on what happened in this study is not beneficial to the readers or the author because anyone can say research showed something and it turns out to be a false accusation. Saying this limit is pure opinion and holds no scientific basis is a save way to carefully give advice without saying it is scientifically proven to be true.
All in all, I found there to be great advice for parents who are concerned about the general well being of their children regarding video games. For the most part, the author did an excellent job of stating what was and wasn’t scientifically shown to be true. Except for the few times I mentioned above of how the statements used could be falsely advertising the information without intending on doing so. Future articles should either include more detail on the research done or use more of an opinion-based approach when writing an article.
