The idea of a vegan diet was impossible or impractical for quite sometime, but as time past the idea started grabbing more attention. Veganism is the philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to animals for food or clothing(“Definition of Veganism”). The term “vegan” is use to describe a person who believe in the practice of veganism, they only use or eat plant-based products and no animal products. This plant-based diet is hard to switch to due to the restriction of animal products. including meat, dairy(anything that contains milk), fish, honey, eggs, wool, silk, leather, and fur. People tend to stick to the vegetarian or pescetarian diet instead, because the idea of giving up all animal products completely is not practical for them. On the other hand, a ton of people are very passionate about veganism and are willing to give up absolutely all animal products. Everyone’s lifestyle is different, some can stay vegan for a longer time than others and most people can’t even attempt it. Products like makeup, shampoo, and more that have been tested on animals are not used by most vegans. The advantages and disadvantage of the diet can play a huge role in a person’s decision or opinion when it comes to switching to the diet. The vegan diet can have a huge impact on the human body and environment positively and negatively, and making the switch can change their lifestyle completely.

It is possible that this diet can help save a lot of land from farming if most of the world’s population switch to it. With this diet there are a handful of health benefits such as lower cholesterol and blood pressure, increase in antioxidants intake, and promote a greater self-control. But also there are many disadvantages that comes with this diet like loss in vitamins and minerals, not being able to eat out often, and overall having to switch up your entire lifestyle. To some people the benefits are much greater than the disadvantages so they made the switch but to others it’s just not worth it.
