Recommended: The impact of social media on social relationships

Social Media has impacted many people in the world today, in a positive and negative way. Positive effect on social media is that you can meet new people from all over the world, make new friends. But, there are also negative effects such as cyberbullying and sexual predators. Social media involves from making new friends, to having to go through cyberbullying and sexual predators and other troubles. One of the positive factor about social media is finding new people through Twitter, Facebook or other sites that you use. Rosen states, “In its traditional sense, friendship is a relationship which, broadly speaking, involves the sharing of mutual interest, reciprocity, trust, and the revelation of intimate details over time and within specific social (and cultural) context” (56). What ever information that you put on social media causes the sexual predators to obtain contacts of that person. Many sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter provides protection for users and it prevents from sex crimes, such as rape or child sexual abuse. “Following congressional hearings about online sexual predators, MySpace hired a safety czar to improve the site’s protection for young users” (28). The world today is not safe for us to give any of our personal information to anyone. Many of the the sexual predators follow what you do everyday where you go to school, or what time you do what thing everything is updated for them to get you. Youngsters have to know to be aware of their surrounding in order to not get into a problem. Many times teenagers don’t know what their doing and they end up where there is no way out.
