Tasha said that she used technology to do a lot of things as well. She said that her job uses a lot of technology to maintain patient records, distribute medications, and access into building and floors. She said that since she works third shift her floor is usually quiet at night so she watches Netflix and plays internet games on her iPod sometimes. She said that without the internet she would be very board throughout the night unless a patient needed her. She also said that she uses the internet to get research on different things. Although she is not a huge fan of social media she does have a Facebook account in order to keep up with old friends from high school and her childhood. Justin stated that although he does not want to live without technology, he has noticed some bad things such as cyber bullying. He said that his friend was cyber bullied on Instagram and the school had to get involved. He said that school is a lot harder than it previously was because they do a lot of the assignments and teaching online and it is hard to understand the online programs. Tasha feels that technology has decreased the amount of face to face, and person to person communication. She said it is rare for her to go out with friend, family or on a date without someone being on their phone. She also said that the use of technology has diminished the amount of creativity and imagination of children. Parents put a phone in a child’s hand when they are babies to keep them quiet or preoccupied. Kids don’t play with dolls and trucks anymore, they play online games and use apps. Ms. Johnson feels that technology is the reason young people are not as independent as they used to be because they rely on technology more than they should. She stated that her grandchildren are only in elementary school and they already have iPhones and iPads.
