A 2010 study in Stockholm, Sweden investigated whether sleep deprived people are perceived as less healthy, less attractive, and more tired, than after a what is considered a healthy, normal night’s sleep of 7-9 hours or more. The experimental study involved 23 healthy, sleep deprived adults ranging from 18 to 31 years of age. The participants were photographed after a normal night’s sleep of 8 hours, and then photographed after sleep deprivation, which was defined by being 31 hours of wakefulness after a night of reduced sleep. The results of this experiment stated that people were rated as less healthy, more tired, and less attractive after being sleep deprived, as opposed to when they were well rested. ...time management program by purchasing a planner and writing down when my assignments were due and when my tests and quizzes were. By doing so, I was then able to plan my time accordingly as to when I would do my assignments or study for my tests and quizzes. This greatly decreased my stress, (as seen through my daily stress log for the 9 consecutive weeks) which in turn increased the number of hours I got of sleep every night (seen through my sleep log and graph).
Results showed that my intervention of organizing my time management worked by decreased negative emotions such as anxiety and increased my hours of sleep nightly. Also by managing my stress through time management it resulted in a more settled and positive state of mind which allowed me to become more refreshed, and less tired the following morning.
