It must not waste human resources and money, and it should also be implemented in the large area; as well, it should make everyone think they get fair treatment. Thus, calming down before people make a decision is a useful measure of rude behavior. If everyone can keep cool before they make a decision, what will the society become? When a person wants to throw litter casually, if he calms down and thinks about the result, and then he will know that is a wrong behavior. After several times, he 's going to throw the trash to the garbage station. When a drive wants to drink or go in an opposite direction, if he calm down and think about the result, and then he will realize that a traffic accident will happen, he will lose his life, his family will be heartbroken. What prompts him to write this essay, is from constantly having to deal with the same types of drivers that cause him to get angry, or rage. He was living in Miami whilst writing this, which is a city of a large population, with lots of traffic. The immediate audience targeted would be other drivers, as reading this would get his points out and maybe they’d stop doing certain things he mentioned. The secondary audience would be future drivers, as they would now know what they should maybe sometimes avoid doing. Like when he mentions “-the aggressive young male whose car has a sound system so powerful and the driver must go faster than the speed of sound at all times-”. Dangers on roadways is an issue that describes the discrepancy between perception and reality of road rage. The media, for some odd reason, tends to make road rage a huge controversial issue. As seen on talk shows from Oprah Winfrey to CNN, they reveal to people that road rage could happen at any time and to always be looking over your shoulder. These talk shows and news programs also put fear into our minds by explaining that most roadragers often use guns to kill or injure their victims. Glassner contradicts the media's speculations by stating that out of approximately 250,000 people killed on roadways between 1990-1997, AAA attributed that one in one thousand was an act of road rage (pg.5).
Just because the sun is bright and shining in the summer does not mean that people are at their happiest moment. It is a regular hot summer’s day where you wake up to a hot apartment due to a broken A/C. The sun is not even completely out and you are already sweating, starting your day with the wrong foot. What is Sociology, and what is the relationship with social norms? “Sociology is the scientific study of society and human behavior” (Henslin, 2015, pg. 4). Norms are “expectations of ‘right’ behavior” (Henslin, 2015, pg. 49). The relationship of the two would be that society upholds itself following the norms in our everyday life. If we follow he norms of society we could be given sanctions, there are positive sanctions and negative sanctions. For instance, I’ve observed norm violations that in the most part they are given negative sanctions. According to Millie (2011) one of the most common actions in rudeness is based on the desire for revenge as a way for the victim to get even. As a result, people tend to strike back without making a conscious decision (Caldwell 1990). Evidence shows that when people experience rudeness in a direct way, their cognitive thinking is affected in tasks such as attention, creativity and decision-making (Porath & Erez 2007). In another study, Porath and Erez (2011,) examined how rudeness affects people’s counterfactual thinking. In this study, participants were given three identical tasks. What varied from each condition was the source and the forms of rudeness that they experienced from the experimenter or a stranger. For example, in the first group, the experimenter was rude to participants for being late to the experiment. In the second group, the participant encountered a stranger who threatened them before they arrived at the experiment. In the last group, the participants were asked to simply think about how they would have reacted to various types of rudeness. In each situation, the number of possible uses for a brick measured the participants’ performance. The results of this study concluded that participants who experienced rudeness, not only produced fewer ideas than those who did not experience rudeness but their ideas were also less diverse and less creative.

Each day at school encountering rudeness is common especially from students but also from the faculty. Walking through the busy hallways of the school is where encountering rudeness is the most likely to occur and probably will. While walking through the busy hallways on my way from the lunchroom keeping a good look out ahead for the blockade of kids that tend to stop right in the middle of the hall to socialize slowing down the flow of the student body is a good idea so I will have less of a hassle in getting around them. Maybe just one of these times the kids will get it through their heads and move to one side or the other to keep the flow of students steady. Yet this does not happen and this will continue on a regular basis during the school day.

If we give enough time to think if our actions or words would hurt others, then our violent behaviors will be reduced. One strategy that really works well is by keeping silent when you're at the peak of your emotion. When you are angry, frustrated, depressed, or hurt, it is much better to keep silent for a while. As we all have observed, throughout history each culture or society has unique norms that are acceptable to that group of people. Therefore, to establish and come to the acceptance of these basic norms, each society must develop its’ own strategies and techniques to encourage the fundamentals of behavior, which is clear in our modern society. Most do assume that everyone in a society will follow and respect such norms. However, some tend to deviate from the adequate norms and demonstrate deviant behavior.
