Pornography as today, is the representation in books, magazines, photographs, films and media, of scenes of sexual behavior that are erotic or arouse sexual acts. Defining and classifying materials that are considered pornographic has proven somewhat elusive and has varied considerably across time and across different social and cultural context. The frequency of pornography can also influence in the reaction of a sexual offender. There is a difference between the effects of pornography on a sexual offender that is high risk, and an offender that that is low risk. An offender that is high risk is more susceptible to engage in violent sexual acts after being exposed to pornography due to their hostile personality. Also a high risk sexual offender is more prone to recidivism after watching pornographic material. Another factor that contributes to person’s sexual behavior is the influence by their overall emotional state, if they were rejected or most of the time they felt anger. Many individuals may had lived in a disrupted family where there was no support and it was mostly a conflictive environment. It is demonstrated that men with higher attraction to sexual aggression were more likely to get aroused when exposed to sexually violent. Offenders that are exposed to erotica, report that their aggression decreased, while offenders exposed to nonviolent sexual behavior and violent sexual behavior significantly increase aggression. There is much research that contributes to both points of view; whether pornography contribute to sexual behavior or if it does not have any effects. My opinion on this is that pornography like any other particular phenomenon that can cause addiction, sooner or later is going to have side effects. For example, researchers that believe that pornography does not have any effect on the individual argue that the pornography user, use pornography in order to space their reality and that they will not harm some other person because they live in a virtual world, however that individual will get tired at some point of living that virtual world and pornography will not be sufficient in order to achieve the desire pleasure that the individual is seeking. Jensen describes how he was forced to play a “macho” role as a child out of fear of being bullied and ridiculed for not being manly enough. A review of the contemporary research on the negative effects of pornography is replete of scholarly and anecdotal evidence and opinion about the damages associated with viewing it. To sufficiently take a side in the ever-growing debate of pornography, one must first define the concept around which this discourse surrounds itself. A working definition for pornography is a piece of material that has the object purpose of arousing erotic feelings. Radical feminists, however, strictly define it as “the act of sexual subordination of women” (Dworkin 1986).
Both Altman and Brison write their opposing sides of pornography. Pornography is defined as “the graphic sexually explicit subordination of women through pictures or words that also includes women dehumanized as sexual objects, things, or commodities; enjoying pain or humiliation or rape; being tied up … injury, torture, shown as filthy or inferior; bleeding, bruised, or hurt in a context that makes these conditions sexual” (Brison, 378-379).

In a recent study of dating or married couples, 73% of males reported to using pornography at some level (ranging from low to high frequency use), while only 32% of females reported using pornography (Poulsen, Bubsy & Galovan, 2013 p. 73). Pornography has highly addictive qualities, which are often dismissed as "human nature," and is the leading cause of unhappiness leading to divorce in marriages. The ease of access to online pornography makes this worse because it is much more difficult to quit because of how easy it is to access it. If someone is addicted to drugs, they would need to find a supply if they were tempted to relapse. With an online pornography addiction, all someone needs is a computer to relapse into their pornography addiction. This form of addiction is not seen as an issue because of its dismissal as “human nature.” Online Pornography addiction negatively affects the addicted party's serious relationship or marriage, the addicted person's partner, and the addicted party themselves.
