Whether humans choose to face it or not, pollution is one of the single largest killers of the earth and humans; affecting almost 100 million people around the world (Paragraph 1 – Fact 1). Not only is it extremely harmful to the environment, but it’s extremely harmful to all living beings including humans, animals, and aquatic life. Pollution is caused by a variety of man-made objects such as vehicles, products, or services such as power plants, but pollution is not just limited to airborne toxins; garbage and chemicals are just a few more extremely harmful pollutants that affect the land environment. Over the past 250 years since the beginning of the industrial revolution, there has been a drastic increase in the amount of pollution released within the planet; from non-degradable plastic bottles to toxic factories, any type of pollution decreases the lifespan of precious environmental life. It is evident that these practices must end immediately or the future of the human race could be at risk. Though a decent amount of effort would be required, humans need to begin taking large steps such as reducing the amount of litter and unrecycled material, placing standards on hazardous waste, and begin switching over the alternative methods of energy. Consequently, some of these attempts may be costly and cause people to become hesitant at first due to the “fear of change.” This will also take a large amount time and practice to implement into people’s daily lives.
The first step in reducing pollution must start with the people themselves; since the general population is the main cause the issue. Littering must be eliminated and recycling must increase. During a normal day traveling down the interstate, trash and liter can be seen scatte...

...ocial media of turtles with plastic wrap around them; trapping and tangling them. This issue could also have been eliminated if liter cleanup and recycling was more of a focus in people’s everyday life. Overall, it is extremely important than humans understand and realize the negative impacts pollution has on the environment. Also, humans need to understand the steps needed in order to fix the current problems along with preventing future ones. In order to fix this, out of date and subpar pollution control programs must be fixed and revised to conform to current standards and issues; these also must be implemented into everybody’s life. The earth is a beautiful and extremely suitable place to reside on and if we want the earth to take care of us, like it has been for thousands of years, we must begin taking care of it; the earth doesn’t need humans to survive.
