Cordes’s book offers a direct information and important insight into the concept of effects of obesity on teenage girls. Cordes tries advising girls that some sizes do not have to be worried about but, instead natural size is the result of genes we get or inherit from our parents. The genes in the body determine the amount of fat cells in our bodies. That is the reason it is hard for some girls to lose weight. Cordes’s book says metabolism is the process by which the food transforms into energy, waste products, new cells and even weight. Different metabolism equals different metabolic rates. This is the reason why some girls eat a lot and never gain weights, but some do not even eat that much but gain weight. He gives good advice to ladies to stop comparing themselves to other ladies, because some of them who are not even fat still want to go on diet (13).
Corde’s book gives insight on why obesity actually affects girls. It says most of them who look at the magazines of models leads to lots of self- destructive behavior. Many of them also develop eating disorders such as anorexia, meaning starving themselves or eating a lot and purging the food by throwing up or using laxatives (17). Corde also talks about the causes on one of his topics (Notice your feelings), this talks about some of the reasons why ladies get big. It says girls wolf down a carton of ice cream during their times of stress. The book gave an example of a fourteen year old girl who felt humiliated by classmates who called her hurtful names, such as “chink” and “fat -ass” and her response was to overeat. After her friends rejected her, Yong sat home during the summer eating.

Providing motivational support is the key aspect in my solution. This entails being consistent with keeping in touch with her everyday, setting up a schedule with her to exercise and ensure she follows these process by skyping with her while she exercises and also performing the exercise with her. I would also create diet schedule with her, spend time with her on breaks, play soccer to get her do physical activities when I am around. The most important and useful method that works and gives anyone motivation is the word “compliment”. Keeping up with her consistently shows that I am committed but also adding a spice of compliment.
