In the past decade or so, humans have begun to adopt unhealthy lifestyles. Fast food has grown increasingly popular and is less expensive than traditional, healthy food. Candy and other sweets are also at an all time high for consumption by humans. It’s not just unhealthy foods that endanger our health, but also unhealthy drinks. Sodas are very unhealthy but yet are still consumed by humans at very high rates. Energy drinks are growing in popularity but they are perhaps the most unhealthy drink that there is in our world today. Energy drinks are very concentrated with caffeine. This high concentration of caffeine will deteriorate human bones and also substantially decrease a person 's life expectancy. People today are also not exercising like they should. Exercise has been proven to increase a person’s life expectancy and boost their health substantially.
Jan Sheehan says, “Living a long, healthy life depends on on many factors, including genetics, but certain habits can have a major effect. Smoking, drinking and overeating contribute to illnesses and serious life-threatening diseases, while eating a healthy diet and making exercise a habit can keep a person well and extend their life. The key is to replace unhealthy habits with healthy ones.” She then goes on to say, “Smoking is an unhealthy habit that is responsible for 90 percent of lung cancer deaths and 80 to 90 percent of emphysema and chronic bronchitis deaths, according to the American Lung Association. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,800 chemicals, 69 percent of which are known to cause cancer, and smoking also contributes to heart disease. It is never too late to start being healthy. Shuna explains, “No matter how old a person is or what kind of diet and exercise pattern he or she follows, it 's possible for that person to make adjustments and improve health. A person who is not very active can start by making small changes, such as replacing soft drinks with water and adding a 10-minute walk to a daily routine. Choose changes that are exciting and attainable for the best, most consistent results over time.”
