The wedding was all set! The music was ready; the food was ready; the groom was ready. The wedding was set for Thursday. It was all well planned. The only thing that was left was the bride. Wait, where was the bride? No one could find the bride anywhere! Everyone looked and looked, but they couldn’t find the bride! The bride was nowhere to be found! Suddenly a voice from the nurse said, “Alas, alas! Help, Help! My lady’s dead!—(IV,5,17) The bride was dead; she was dead! What were they going to do now? Everything was set, but the bride was dead! It was a tragedy, and the wedding couldn’t keep going. This is the story of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet was not really dead; she was just faking her death so the other people thought that she was dead so she didn’t have to marry Paris. It was a risky move. She was dishonest to her parents and didn’t obey them. Although this time she wasn’t dead, she would soon be later on in the play. Although it can be very hard to be honest, we need to be honest. Being dishonest can lead to bad consequences like the death in the story of Romeo and Juliet.
When Juliet staged her death, she was being dishonest to her parents by telling them that she was going to marry Paris. She acted like she really wanted to marry him, when she really wanted be with Romeo. Dishonesty can lead to many tragedies in life. Juliet thinks everything is going as planned. She drinks the potion, she “dies”, and everyone thinks she’s dead, so they bury her. The only thing left is for her to wake up from the potion and be with her lover Romeo. Things change up and don’t go how they were planed. The friar promised Juliet that he would send a messenger to Rome. “In this resolve. I’ll send a friar with speed”(IV,1,127)

... We learned that dishonesty can lead to many serious consequences. Just like in Romeo and Juliet, dishonesty can lead to even death. The Bible says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.” God tells us in the Bible that we must obey our parents and be honest to them for this is the right thing to do. When we obey our parents, many good things can happen. When we obey them, there is harmony in the family. There will always be peace in the family. When we obey our parents, we make their life so much easier. We avoid many problems in the family. Sometimes we think that we know what is right for us. Sometimes, we think that we know everything. Really, our parents know more than us. They have lived longer than us and therefore, know more than us. We should always obey our parents because this is what God says and also because that is what is right.
Reprehensible Sins in Romeo and Juliet Religious authorities are perceived as holy icons that distribute words of blessing and wisdom to others. They most definitely do not perform sinful actions nor violate rules. These authorities are idols that people admire because they are respectful, considerate, and play many different roles in the lives of many people. In William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” Friar Lawrence does not demonstrate the characteristics that are admired in a religious figure. Though he does things to help someone in need, Friar Lawrence is disrespectful, selfish, and violates regulations.
Context has greatly influenced how Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare in the 1500’s to how Williams Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet was produced in 1996 by Baz Luhrmann with a more modern intention.
Juliet strategizes her disastrous plan and worries, “How if, when I am laid into the tomb, I wake before the time that Romeo come to redeem me?” (Lines 30-32 of Act Four, Scene Three). Juliet is desperate to see Romeo, ergo she plans to fake her death. Her thoughts of Romeo finding her lifeless foreshadows their future. Romeo is deprived of the news of Juliet’s real state of health, therefore he says, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight. O mischief, thou art swift to enter the thoughts of desperate men!” (Lines 34-36 of Act Five, Scene One). Once again, Romeo’s perception is only focused on Juliet. His mental instability leads him to think Paris is in the way obtaining true happiness, thus he slays him. Romeo acquires poison, stands beside Juliet, and states, “Here’s to my love! (Drinks.) O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” (Lines 119-120 of Act Five, Scene Three). Romeo observes Juliet’s body and determines that he should die beside her. My wife, death that hath sucked” (3.5.141-142) If Romeo and Juliet planned out the rescue of Juliet's body more thoroughly, Romeo would not have killed himself.
When Juliet goes to the friar and threatens to kill herself if he doesn’t help her get out of marrying Paris he agrees to help her. He gives her a potion to temporarily stop her breathing so she appears dead. The friar says, “Take thou this /vial, being then in bed,/And this distilling liquor drink thou off;/When presently through/all thy veins shall run/A cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse/Shall keep his native progress, but surcease.” (Act IV.i 95-99) “In the meantime, against thou shalt awake,/Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift,” (Act IV.i 115-116) He is saying that Juliet doesn’t have to worry about Romeo freaking out about her death because he will tell Romeo about her fake death and they will be there to dig her up once she wakes up from her sleeping potion. The play, Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is about a tragedy of two star crossed lovers who want nothing more than to be together forever. “…Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.” (2.2.35-36) Romeo, a Montague, who is young and passionate, meets Juliet at a Capulet party. When they meet, it’s love at first sight. Juliet, a Capulet, is a beautiful young lady tired of being controlled by her father, Lord Capulet. The two families are in a never ending feud that comes between Romeo and Juliet’s love. In the course of four and a half days, Romeo and Juliet plan their marriage with the help of Priest Friar Laurence and Juliet’s Nurse. After the couple is married, Romeo is banished from the city of Verona, causing an issue for their ideal fate together. Lord Capulet forced Juliet to marry Count Paris after she married Romeo, leaving Friar to structure a plan to avoid a second marriage for Juliet. Juliet takes a sleeping potion that makes her believably dead for forty-two hours – during this time, Romeo was to be told that she is still alive; however he was not, so he purchased illegal poison so that he did not have to live without Juliet. Juliet wakes up only to find her true love lying dead next to her, thinking it necessary to stab herself with a dagger. After the couple dies, there leaves one question; Who should be pardoned, and who should be punished? The Nurse should be pardoned, while Friar Laurence and Count Paris should be punished.
Juliet is not pleased when she hears this because she was the only person she was able confide in and now she has no one and she doesn?t like the idea that she is all alone with no one but Romeo who is in Mantua and has been banished. Juliet feels as if the adults have won. So she decides to take action and stop the wedding because if there is no bride there is no wedding, ? Thou and my bosom henceforth shall be twain. I?ll to the friar to know his remedy, if all else fail, myself have power to die.?

When Juliet asks the Friar to help her break free from her wedding with Paris, he replies that: If, rather than to marry County Paris, Thou has the strength of will to slay thyself; Then it is likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to elude away this shame, That cop'st with death himself to scrape from it; And, if thou darest, I'll give thee remedy. IV i 71-76. Therefore, for the second time, the Friar acts unwisely and agrees to give Juliet this deadly potion.
After making the plan to fake her death with Friar Laurence, Juliet tells her father, “Pardon, I beseech you! / Henceforward I am ever rul’d by you” (4.2.22-23). Here, Juliet is lying to her father by telling him she will marry Paris when she really plans to fake her death. This is important because it reveals that Juliet’s eagerness to be with Romeo causes her to lie to her parents, putting the person she just met above the parents that raised her and love her very much. Not caring about how her actions will affect them may also cause conflicts later on in the play. Romeo is also deceptive to his role model, Friar Laurence. After learning that Juliet has “died”, Romeo tells Balthasar, “Is it e’en so? Then I defy you, stars! / Thou knowest my lodging. Get me ink and paper / And hire posthorses. I will hence to-night” (5.1.24-26). Here, Romeo is being deceptive of Friar Laurence by not staying at Mantua like Friar Laurence told him to. This is important since Romeo is still banished, so going back to Verona may cause even more conflicts later in the

In the course of the play, Romeo and Juliet immediately fall in love. Also, they know they are meant for each other and therefore decide to get married. After this marriage, there was a brief moment in time where everything was perfect. They are married, in love and there is nothing stopping them from being together. This however quickly changes after a fight that leads to death. Once Romeo is banished from Verona for the penalty of murder, love grows tremendously between the couple and drives the need to be together. The marriage between Romeo and Juliet is hidden from their parents, so Montague decides to arrange a marriage between her and Paris. With all the conflict arising between Juliet’s family, Friar Lawrence creates a plan that unfortunately does not succeed. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending. When the friar hears of this, he devises a plan so that the two lovers can be together. The major climax of the play comes when the friar gives Juliet a potion that will make it seem as though she has died, when in fact she is alive the whole time. While in Mantua, Romeo mistakenly hears that Juliet has actually died and he goes to lay by her side. Just as he takes a vile poison and dies, Juliet awakens to find her love lying dead at her side. She cannot fathom living in a world without Romeo, so she takes his sword and ends her own life.
