Most American’s need a little boost to start their day. Is a cup of coffee or an energy drink the better choice for your daily source of caffeine? Which of the two is healthier? It is a proven fact that coffee contains more caffeine then most energy drinks. For a lot of people drinking coffee has to be on their daily to-do list. While a fluid ounce of typical coffee has 18 milligrams of caffeine, a fluid ounce of Rockstar or Monster only pack 10 milligrams of caffeine. I believe we should all be concerned on the amount of sugar or caffeine that our favorite daily products contain. Clearly, not much research has been done on energy drinks, coffee on the other hand has been researched or the past 100 years. Just like anything else, there is pros and cons.
According to research from McGill University, Caffeine blocks fatigue inducing neurotransmitters, increases neural firing, and triggers the release of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. All that equals a better mood, a sharper brain, and a faster metabolism. Caffeine detoxes the liver and cleanses the colon when taken as caffeine enema. One of the best effects of caffeine is being able to keep u awake while long hours of driving. Caffeine can stimulate hair growth on balding men and women. For older caffeine consumers, Caffeine may prevent skin cancer. In a large 217,883 person study, those that consumed caffeine from any source had less kidney stone formation than those that did not consume caffeine. The researchers believe that this is because caffeine makes urine more dilute. A new study out of Rutgers University found that caffeine prevented skin cancer in hairless mice. So which way are you going to take in your daily dose? Is it coffee, energy drinks, sodas, candy, or a caffeine pill? Whatever It might be make sure not to take too much of it because, that could be the end of you.
