2) Explain, using diagrams, armature reaction in a dc motor, the effects it has on the motor and methods to reduce it.
Explanation:
DC motor: A DC motor is any class of electrical machines that converts direct current electrical power into mechanical power. The most common types rely on magnetic fields.
Armature: The part of an electrical motor or generator that produces an electric current when it turns in a magnetic field.
Magnetic flux: Magnetic flux is the number of magnetic field lines (also called as magnetic flux density) passing through A closed surface such as conducting coil. The SI unit of magnetic flux is the weber(Wb).
So in this case, a DC motor, two sorts of magnetic(attractive) fluxes are available, ‘armature flux’ and ‘primary field flux’. The impact of armature flux on the primary field flux is called armature reaction or response.
MNA and GNA
EMF is actuated in the armature conductors when they disconnect the attractive field lines. Be that as it may, there 's a hub (or plane) along which armature conductors move parallel to the flux lines and henceforth, they momentarily don 't disconnect.
MNA (Magnetic Neutral Axis) might be characterised as the pivot along which no EMF is created in the armature conductors as they move parallel to the flux lines. Brushes are constantly put along MNA in light of the fact that inversion of current in the armature conductors happens along this pivot.
GNA(Geometrical Neutral Axis) might be characterised as the pivot which is perpendicular to the stator field hub.
Armature Reaction
Consider, no current is streaming in there armature conductors and just the field winding is empowered(as appeared in the first figure of the above picture). For this situation, magnetic (attra...

...he armature response is because of the vicinity of armature flux. Armature flux is delivered because of the current streaming in armature conductors. If we put another winding in close nearness of the armature winding and if it conveys the same current however the other way of that of the armature present, this will invalidate the armature field. Such an additional winding is called compensating winding and placed on the pole faces. Compensating winding is connected in series with the armature winding in a manner that it conveys the current in opposite direction.
Interpoles are the small auxiliary poles set between the primary field posts. Winding on the interpoles is in series with the armature. Each interpole is wound in a manner that it 's magnetic polarity is same as that of the principle pole infront of it. Interpoles nullify the quadrature axis armature flux.

Use Of Brushless Direct Current Motor Essay

- Brushless Direct Current Motor Choosing a motor was the first step in creating an appropriate system for the electric bike. Initially, the project was to be driven by DC micro motors that were configured to turn a sprocket. The sprocket is used to transmit rotary motion between two shafts. To change gears and speeds of the bicycle, the diameter of the sprocket needs to be changed. Instead of having multiple sized sprockets in parallel, the initial idea was to place multiple micro motors in parallel to increase the amount of current supplied to the sprocket for more output power....   [tags: Electric motor, Magnetic field, Armature, Rotor]

Essay The Physics Of The Field Of Physics

- It is not easy feat to become an inspiration of Albert Einstein, considering that he is one of the most famous and recognized scientist. Of three people whose picture hung on Einstein’s wall, Michael Faraday was one of them. Although Faraday had come from a lower class in the 1800s, his eagerness to learn more about the world propelled him to great discoveries that changed the world. One of the most important findings for the future of both technology and the field of physics was Faraday’s breakthrough of the electromagnetic induction and his discovery of the magnetic field....   [tags: Magnetic field, Electromagnetism, Michael Faraday]

Essay on The Effects Of Magnetic Permeability On The Magnetic Field

- Aeromagnetic Data Theory Scalar aeromagnetic data reflect both induced and remanent magnetic fields. Induced magnetism is caused by the earth’s magnetic field and is mainly the result of the magnetic susceptibility of the rock. Magnetic susceptibility is expressed as a unit-less proportionality constant denoted by an International System of Units (SI), which simply reflects the susceptibility of a rock to become magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field. This susceptibility is mainly a function of the rock’s magnetite content....   [tags: Magnetic field, Magnetism, Igneous rock]

Essay about Field International Case Study

- Field International is a large production company that operates for fifteen years. This company has three divisions: Field Production, Field Music, and the new venture, Field Advertising. The president and chairman of the board, Lawrence Field, has operated this business in a pooled interdependence fashion. Each division is directed independently by a vice president, and evaluated in the same independent basis. - 3.1 Membrane porosity properties A. The Effect of Pulp DP Table 2 show the high DP of pulp (Exp. Code A) result in higher porosity (low density) and water permeability of membrane. As it is well known that the molecular weight of membrane polymer has a great effect on the membrane performance while molecular weight is depend on Degree of Polymerization which indicate number of repeat unit (monomer) in chain molecules. The Effects Of Stress On The Field Of Psychology Essay

-   I. Introduction Stress, as defined in the field of psychology, is the process by which we appraise and cope with environmental threats and challenges (Myers, 2014). Understanding stress, what causes stress, and the impact that stress can have on humans is relevant to the larger field of psychology because it allows us to diagnose, study, and treat persons affected by both short- and long-term stress. Stress is known to deteriorate brain cells, lower immune responses, raise blood pressure, and even cause obesity; therefore, the study of stress is not only relevant to the field of psychology, but also to the entire medical field....   [tags: AIDS, Immune system, Immunodeficiency, HIV]

The Field Essay

- In my imagination, the field is always sere and brown and dusty (although I know at some point in my childhood it must have been green). Yes, there is always green Johnson grass and other green weeds. There are green stickers (always clogging the laces of my sneakers). But the landscape is more like an African savannah than anything else. In the summer, much of the verdant growth of April, May and early June would crisp into brown and yellow husks. Only the trees retained their green leaves, just as one would see on the African plains....   [tags: Personal Experience]
