method that work best form them and for all students in my classroom to succeed. One of the ways my CT was able to demonstrate standard six way by using sign language. I was able to observe sign language when we had the morning meeting. She taught the children multiple words that matched the season and would have the children sign it back to her. She also tough the children how to say good morning in sign langue and she went around the circle and welcomed all the children. This was selected because my CT felt like sign language was a good nonverbal way for children to communicate if they needed something without disturbing the rest of the class. She also used the good morning in sign language to make all the children feel welcomed in the classroom. …show more content…

When I introduced my lesson as asked the kids for a thumbs up or thumbs down if they remembered working with greater than or less than symbols and if they understand which way the symbol went. I feel like this worked pretty well because I was able to get a quick glance of how the students felt about the lesson before the lesson. I was also able to see which students would need a little extra help in the lesson. One thing that I found problematic was that I only got a quick glance of what the students thought about the lesson. Next time I did this lesson I would actually count how many thumbs were up and how many were down. In order to get a better observation of my students. The students learning was impacted by communicating to me, the teacher, how they felt about the lesson and how comfortable they felt with the material of the lesson. While doing the lesson I could tell the students who had their thumbs up were completing the lesson with no problem and the students with thumbs down were struggling a little bit. If students didn’t understand that material I would also try to explain the problem in a different way using working like bigger or smaller rather than greater than or less than. I was able to tell this by the worksheet of the student and the exit sheets. I had the students turn in the exit sheet and work sheet together, and if the students drew a smiley face on the exit sheet they …show more content…

This means that I could create other ways for students to communicate without disturbing the classroom. One idea that was reinforced was that as a teacher I want to use non-verbal’s to get an understanding of how my students feel about the material. With an understanding of how the students feel about the material the better you can help student who need the extra help if they feel like they don’t understand the material. Overall, I feel like I am making progress on using that standard. I say this because I feel like I was able to use non-verbal communication pretty effectively to understand how my students felt about the material but I can also improve this my possibility adding in some instructional media to communicate with the student to improve learning. One goal that I have when I have my professional semester is that I want to use interactive technology and media to help my students communicate and learn effectively. This is important because in today’s digital world it’s very important that students know how to use technology to learn and to be able to communicate with others. The other goal I have as a future teacher is that I want to use non-verbal to understand my students’ knowledge and help them grow and have an understanding of all the material and because of this understand be able to see progress in their learning.
