I recently read an article about what is happening to many children in the Middle East and found it upsetting. It was an almost surreal to learn parents were sending their children to schools to receive an education and food without knowing the trade off was having their children taught to be suicide bombers. Even worse the children readily accepted what they were being taught because they believed there was nothing better for them. The civil right to have an education must be enforced by everyone and never lost sight of. The joint efforts of teacher and volunteers between the two nations will spark an educational revolution. This is a program where by giving today we receive tomorrow. If we who believe in overcoming the injustices all around us step up to help the children we create a new beginning. This program will address the civil right of being entitled to an education and in turn women’s equality, freedom of speech, artistic freedom and many more. It is a matter of growing success by teaching children that they can make a difference and encouraging them to change the wrongs that they face.
I want to give the children the resources needed to grow up and become productive members of society that contribute to the fight for civil rights. This is in no way an overnight solution and may take years to fully take roots because there is much to do. I want to first reach out to regions in the middle east that are in high areas of risk of being affected by acts of terrorism because it allows for a strong beginning. It will take time to get campaigns started around both nations to raise awareness and money. Everyone big and small can get involved there is no limit to who can give a hand. Frustrations from language barriers to denial of civil rights will be approached as challenges to overcome and an opportunity to make a change. The collaboration between the two countries will provide resources to build keep up and enlarge the range of the project so that all children are reached. The most important thing the children will take away from attending school is the power to change the wrongs they face in their daily lives. The students will go forth into the world to change their surroundings for the better because their right to an education was fulfilled. The success of the collaboration will reverberate through generations to come and grow into much bigger things with opportunities for all.
In Afghanistan, education is not easily attainable especially as a woman. “For girls in much of the country, education remains a dream no more attainable now than it was under the Taliban. If women are educated, that means their children will be too. If the people of the world want to solve the hard problems in Afghanistan--kidnapping, beheadings, crime and even al-Qaeda--they should invest in education”(Baker).This quote explains the struggles that young afghanistan children have to go through by not getting the opportunities that American children get every day. Even after Afghanistan was under the Taliban, it was still rare for children to attend school which is a horrible reality. Education is explained as one Afghanistan's worst problems of this time. Future generations are in trouble if this problem is not fixed. The tragedy that these children are facing needs to evolve towards a better system. Afghanistan’s current educational structure is unacceptable to the growth of children. “It's hard to overstate the amount of work to be done. The literacy rate in the country has dropped below 40 percent for men, and it is believed to be as low as 4 percent for women” (Whitelaw). Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. It is the very same “legacy of change” that Nelson Mandela used that inspires what Malala Yousafzai does today. At the age of 15, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating for girls’ education. Since this appalling incident, Malala has gone on to be the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize, start the “Malala Fund”, that funds education in developing countries, and is currently the figure of women’s rights. Malala has been constantly speaking, advocating and helping women and children acquire the rights they deserve. Something I have always known since I was a little kid is that the educational system in this country is a complete fraud. American schools claim to live by the ideal of No Child Left Behind, but millions of students get cast aside each and every year. In schools these days, it is obvious which students are the elite—those that are raised up and motivated to go to college—and the ordinary student— those that are somewhat ignored throughout their schooling and are lucky if they even earn a GED. As a recent graduate of high school, and a product of this country’s educational system, I have had the opportunity to develop my own opinions regarding the myth of education in our society. Based upon my observations going through the school system, and the various arguments posed by several authors in “Rereading America”, I strongly believe that schooling in this society caters solely to students in the elite category while ostracizing students that do not live up to the elitist ideal.
First, with all the money that is being put into public education, it needs to be distributed evenly. If public schools had similar resources and capabilities, students wouldn’t need to travel far to get a good education and this would solve many problems. An example of this from the film is when a Mother is speaking about her child’s experience at an open discussion. She talks about how her student loves music and music is taught at a one public school and not the other. Money is being distributed unequally and kids are being taken of opportunities that they could have a passion for. Another aspect that I agree with is that for things to change for the better in the future, everyone needs to get involved. Kids in these unfortunate situations can only do so much to speak up for themselves but it will only get them so far. Most of the students aren’t even able to vote yet so it is important the country as a whole is aware of these problems and learn about how to help. Writer, political activist, and feminist Malala Yousafzai once said, “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world.” Education is not a luxury, but rather a basis for survival; sadly, thirty-one million females ages five through eleven are not in a primary school and seventeen million of these females are expected to never enroll in school (Education). Malala Yousafzai fought, and is currently still fighting for education rights for women and children (Van). Malala Yousafzai defied a law which she determined unjust and was prepared to pay the ultimate price: her life. Due to Yousafzai’s personal beliefs, she choose to participate in civil disobedience by protesting the ban on education. Malala Yousafzai was successful in her actions through the use of peaceful protest. Yousafzai committed an act of civil disobedience in the eyes of the Taliban. Civil disobedience is defined as peace protest that violates a law intentionally (Suber).In addition to

Education is a form of learning that is necessary for the development of one’s personality, identity, physical and intellectual capabilities. Education also provides to the growth of a person through the enhancement of social and professional integration. Education can improve a person’s quality of life. Underprivileged adults and children have a chance to escape poverty. “It is a tool for the economic, social and cultural development of all population around the world. Education is a human right and should be accessible to everyone without discrimination. All children should be awarded the same opportunities to be able to build a future for themselves. Therefore they must and should be able to go to school. Each child have the right to benefit from a quality education that fits their needs.”(Humanium 2016).
Yousafzai is a young education activist who has been striving for equal education rights for women and girls in Pakistan (Malala Yousafzai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, 2014). Yousafzai came to the world attention as a blogger for BBC and by surviving an assassination attempt by a Taliban member in October 2012(Malala Yousafzai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, 2014). Yousafzai struggles for equality are the type of struggles that come to minds of many when they think of the modern struggle for educational equality. She is a subject of an oppressive foreign government risking her life for what she believes in. Therefore, many feel that the struggle for educational equality is taking place in the far flung corners of the earth. When others think of the deistic struggle for equal education, they may think back to the 1950’s, 1960’s, or 1970’s. These decades are well known as the height of the American Civil Rights Movement and the Women’s Liberation movement. While great strides were made in these decades, many would agree that the struggle for educational equality continue to this day. This statement is partially true when applied to the struggles of students with disabilities.

My generation may well be the generation that brings total destruction or total peace to the world. Therefore, the United Nations should think about working together with government and educational cabinet members to put together a unified educational program in the schools of every country in the world to teach constructive approaches to resolve conflicts peacefully within the family, school, and community environments.
When I interviewed the Kindergarten teacher she was very eager to share all of the partnerships that her school is participating in. She stated that the biggest challenge facing schools today is the increasing class size, poverty, and cuts in funding. As a result, “sage funding” was put into place to help with smaller classes, but is now being cut from the La Crosse School District. In regards to poverty, she says that schools can help get families in touch with community organizations that can provide them with some of their needs.
Education is a very important aspect of the lives of all people all over the world. What we learn, not just in the classroom, shapes who we are. We take our education everywhere we go. We use it when talking to our buddies about sports or music, we use it while solving a math problem, we use our education while debating with our family whether or not we should watch TV or go to the movies. Our education is the foundation of who we are, since every decision we make and every thought we think is dependent on what we know. Imagine how different the world would be if everyone craved learning to such a degree that at lunch tables all over the world the topic of conversation isn't who likes who, or how drunk someone got over the weekend, but it would be what books were read over the weekend, and what new ideas were thought of. This crave for learning would be an ideal but still suggests need for improvement with the current educational system. It seems that the problem with education is that somewhere along the lines the human race forgot (assuming they, at one point, understood how valuable information is) that learning is not just a mandatory process, but also an opportunity to transcend and open the gateway to a better understanding.

At the end of the day, the children are the future and need individuals surrounding them that will have their best interest at heart. By everyone (educators, parents, community leaders, etc…) working together as a team (T-Together, E-Everyone, A-Achieves, M-More), we will be prosperous in helping and guiding pupils in becoming future leaders, as well as productive citizens in society.

Major thinkers have always recognised the educational value of intellectual exploration and of concrete experimentation. Most societies have attempted to standardise the behaviour of their members. These societies have apprenticeship systems by which the young have learned to imitate the beliefs and behaviours of a given group. Teachers have worked within schools of thought cults, monasteries and other types of organisations to shape desired convictions, knowledge and behaviour. Such philosophical and religious leaders as the Budha, Confucius, Pythagoras, Jesus, Moses, Muhammad and Karl Marx instructed their disciplines through informal education.
