Education Issues in China

In China, there are great issues that relate to education. These many problems have been shown in movies, documentaries and sometimes if serious enough put on the news. Out all the issues, the obvious problems show clearly. They are child labour, rural education, and undertrained teachers and that most high schools are exam centred. Child labour is when the children of a family have to work in areas where it is unsuitable for their age. They have to do this in order to earn for their family. The undertrained teachers are a problem found throughout Cultural China. Students are not taught properly and don’t learn as much as they should’ve in the city. The last issue listed is that high schools are exam based. The high schools are just a ground where you prepare for exams for three years.
The first issue is about undertrained teachers which still occurs today. In the film, this issue was reflected when Ms Wei, the teacher, gets her first job at a rural primary school. The reason why it interests me personally is because how the school was willing to hire a person that was only at the age of thirteen. Undertrained teachers occurs because in China, there is no sort of registration to be a teacher. The employers or the principals simply assumed that the teachers were trained. But in many cases, teachers did not receive any pre-service preparation. But now, the issue is not as serious as it was before. The government of China has taken notice of the issue. As a result, the government has been trying to think of solutions to this major problem. A possible way to improve this situation is to fund the poor teachers with programs to help them. ...Australian education system is better than the China education system. Comparing every factor that China is better at and is worse at and the factors remain that Australia has more positives than negatives. But in China, it is better to be in the first-word areas than to be in third-world areas. However, this could be fixed if more jobs and higher wages were paid and given to employees.
