: According to the Ministry of Education they has identified that sustainability is a critical issue for New Zealand – environmentally, economically, culturally, politically, and socially. They said we need to learn how to live smarter to reduce our impact on the environment so that our natural resources will be around for future generations. Otago Polytechnic is committed to responding to this call as well as the New Zealand government’s vision for our environment to be a clean, healthy and unique environment, sustaining nature and people 's needs and aspiration. This vision for the environment is general. It recognises the interdependence and interaction of people and the natural and physical environment. Otago Polytechnic has made a commitment to become a leader in the field of education for sustainability and sustainable business practice.
I have chosen a sustainable organization because it is the right thing to do and also to underpin the initiatives in education for sustainability. They seek to be a credible provider which models sustainability and they also want to be the leading tertiary provider for education for sustainability in New Zealand.

According to Otago their vision is to lead as socially responsible and sustainable organization in
which they can educate for a sustainable future.

Otago Polytechnic believes in a holistic approach to sustainability that includes the concepts of environmental, social, political and economic sustainability. They encourage the walking talk modelling behaviours. They integrate the education for the sustainability into all of their programmes so that their graduates can influence the change in their careers and their personal lives. How to achieve the Aspirations?
Work with communities and local governments to encourage community resilience and sustainable practice (e.g. biodiesel, shaping our Future). To develop the formal and informal education programmes for local businesses and the wider community. They engage with industry to review and revise sustainable practices. The involvement of students in the sustainability initiatives at OP and they communicates the progress of sustainable projects regularly.

How will we know we have been successful?
To reduce the Otago Polytechnic supply chain cost through sustainability efficiencies, they increase the revenue through the Centre of Sustainable Practices.
