It was the summer going into 9th grade and my little cousin Gianna had just turned one. The birthday party was Elmo themed and the big red monster was everywhere. It was a beautiful summer day for a back yard party. The tables were set up with red tablecloths and bright colored confetti. Each table also had a blow with a real gold fish it. But the best part about the party was the bounce house set way back in the yard, because no matter how old you are your never to old for a bounce house. But unfortunately I couldn’t go on it with all the little kids, so other then the bounce house it was a pretty boring party. There were tons of screaming kids, half of which I didn’t no. A bunch of old aunts and uncles that sat in their chairs, and the other half of the people I didn’t even know who they where. Therefore I wasn’t having the best time. To make things worse, on the same day my friend Shay was having a block party, I was supposed to be meeting my two friends their Gabby and Mandy. Personally, going to a block party with all my friends sounded way more fun then sitting at a one year olds birthday party doing nothing. So my mother said that after cake she would drive me over to the party. Later on in the afternoon I was dropped off at Shays. As I walked down the block I saw tons of people having fun and dancing to the D.J. that was set slightly to the left of her house. I saw my friends standing in the front having a good time; I ran up to them and hugged them when I noticed shay was missing. I asked them where she was and they said she ran off with Chelsea and Meave. I rolled my eyes. Now, my friends and I aren’t big fans of Chelsea and Meave, they always seem too preppy and catty compared to my friends. Chelsea was tall with curly... ... middle of paper ... ...tting all about what had happened earlier that day. Suddenly we were attract by water spraying at us from a tree, scared we ran screaming for the bounce house. Johnny and Connor, my two younger brothers, came running out of the bushes running for us. Laughing as they got us drenched with water we too laughing as we ducked for cover. Somehow gabby go hold of the hoes and attacked them back until they were just as soaked as much as we were. By now we were slipping and sliding all over the place giggling and joking. That night we lit a fire and roasted marshmallows made jokes and had a good time with the people who really mattered. I was with friends who were real and did pretend to someone who they weren’t, or tried to fit in with someone and try to act “cool.” That night was one of the best nights that summer and I learned a lot about what kind of person shay was.
I was sitting in a basement that smelled bad and was stuffy, I needed to get out of there. I was with my friend who liked to ride bikes. So, we decided to ride bikes. Outside we only had 1 normal bike, the other was an old bike with a banana seat on it. I lost a coin toss so I had to ride the trashy bike that had trouble even going straight. There was a trail down at the park where we would ride the bikes. We thought we would go there first and then go climb on playground after. At the very beginning of the trail there’s this difficult hill that goes pretty fast and shoots you right at a left turn. If you didn’t slow down and turn fast enough you would crash.
In this first unit of The First Days of School, Harry Wong presents three characteristics of an effective teacher. The three characteristics are: has good classroom management skills, teaches for mastery, and has positive expectations for student success.
My brother and I had our own rooms at the time. He was eight and I was eleven. We live in a cozy three bedrooms house. One day our parents asked us to come into the living room. There were two bags on the couch and they told us to see what’s inside. Inside were delicious jelly beans and a black shirt. I unfolded the shirt and in big blue letters it said Big Brother. Then my brother unfolded his and it said the same thing. We both stared at our mom and realized she was pregnant. We were so excited, and later we find out it’s a boy. Our parents also told us that we would have to share a room, and we were fine with that.
My best friend and I were so excited, we were going to Six Flags some where we haven’t been in years. Around this time we were twelve years old and thought we were the most adventurous people in the world. The night before going to Six Flags I spent the night over her house. My best friend and I couldn’t stop talking about the rides we would get on, which one would be first and what we were going to eat.
Once upon a time, in a cabin far away, it was Halloween night October 31st 1973. A group of friends decided to go to a cabin in the woods to celebrate their favorite holiday together. Busses packed full of people were going to the party that me and Skyler had planned. We invited almost the whole school. Finally after hours of searching for our final destination we arrived. Skyler and I were the first to be at that raggedy torn down cabin. We brought the lights and the beers and the snacks , we spent hours and hours of decorating and setting up finally Andy showed up to help with all the heavy work.
One day I went outside in my backyard to play, but my back yard is full of pikeys so I wore tennis shoes, a long sleeve shirt , and long pants. I went outside and climbed the tree that we call our Monkey Tree because my sister and I just really love that tree. We would climb on it all the time. My sister and I continued to climb the tree. When I was about to jump down, my dog got in the way. I the proceeded to throw a stick to distract him. Then, of course, right as I jumped down he came back. I fell on top of him, and I fell into the pickers. If it wasn't for me catching myself with my hands, my face would have been full of pickers.I got up crying, and my sister helped me to the door. Savanna opened the door with me still
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
It was the summer ending my middle school years. The summer where I would enter into ninth grade, with all my friends. The same summer that my baby cousin, Gianna, would reach a milestone in her life and turn one. It was a beautiful summer day for a backyard party. The birthday party was Elmo themed, and the big red monster was everywhere. The tables were set up with red tablecloths and bright colored confetti. In addition, each table was adorned with a bowl containing real goldfish. The best part about the party was the bounce house set way back in the yard, because no matter how old you are your never to old for a bounce house. Unfortunately with all the little kids screaming with enthusiasm, I never was able to enter the bounce house. Therefore, the celebration quickly became rather boring. Moreover, there wasn’t anyone there my age. All of my relatives that were there were a cluster of old aunts and uncles that sat in their chairs under a tree to keep cool. The rest of the guests were people I didn’t even know, probably the parents of all the screaming children. Resulting me not having the best of times.
I quickly took off my seat belt because I was very uncomfortable in my booster seat. Me and mother made our way inside wal-mart. We were greeted by a women she told us “welcome to Walmart”. My mother took me straight into my McDonalds and bought me a small breakfast. Me and my mother sat there for about a good 10 minutes eating our breakfast. Then went straight to shopping. My mother was shop for groceries.
It was a saturday and I woke up and I wanted to go sledding. I asked my brother if he would take me he said. He said ‘’ok.’’ I put on my coat, snow pants, gloves and my hat. I grabbed my sled and I told my dad I was going sledding. Me and my brother started walking Until we arrived at the hill.
One day, a quite normal day in fourth grade, my little brother, Maximus and I were rushed to our grandparents house as soon as school got out. We got picked up by our grandparents and got into their black jeep. The ride to my grandparents house was miserable. They told us what had happened to my dad and that my mom was up at the hospital with him. The kind of accident my dad got into was, he was riding his motorcycle, a car backed up into him and crashed into him. The doctors said he could of died but he was lucky. I couldn't believe what I heard. We had nothing to say the whole ride to there house. We were forced to spend the night at there house. I tossed and turned all night long not able to think strate.
In middle school, I had my first ever school dance. I went with my best friends and we danced the day away. I had these really close friends named Sydnee and Kaity. W would go to almost every Saints game together and we would have sleepovers a lot. I went to Jefferson Middle School. It was really fun. When I was in 7th grade, I joined the schools talent show. I sang Hello by Adelle and I won. I had a beautiful voice. I decided to go to the Voice Kids to see if I could
We blasted each other with our loaded green and blue water guns and were running and screaming as loud as possible around the school yard. A few hours later the buses came to take all of us I got on the bright yellow and short elementary kids home. I got on the school bus and sat next to my best friend Marissa. Both of us had to move to the front because we were jumping and climbing on the seats. The bus came to a stop and put its “Stop” sign out. Half of the bus got off at that stop, which was only about 10 minutes away from mine. Marissa got off and right before she took her last step on the ground only a few inches away.
When I jumped, I knew this was stupid… When I was 7 years old, I was in my hometown, Costa Mesa, California. This was at night and we had a party at my grandparent’s house. My cousin finally came over, he was like a best friend to me. His name is Victor, he is short and has black hair. I was eating when he came up to me and said, “Do you want to play something?” I said, “After i’m done eating and then we’ll play.” So I was finishing my meal and told him what we were going to play. He didn’t know what to play, so we had to find something to play. It was really hard to find something to play.
Having spent twelve years of my school life in just one small red brick building, the years tend to fade into each other. But the year I remember most clearly and significantly is my senior year of high school, where I finally began to appreciate what this institution offered to any student who stopped to look. Before, school had been a chore, many times I simply did not feel motivated toward a subject enough to do the homework well, and seeing the same familiar faces around ever since I was 5 years old grew very tiring soon enough. But I began to see things from a different angle once I became a senior.
