Eat Right Be Bright is our healthy eating co-operative programme based in QMUniville. Upon planning this Co-operative the group conducted research into the benefits it could offer. In doing so we focused on one family in particular and how it would help them specifically. Finally we considered the potential of various venues and their overall suitability for the project’ and also the resources that would be required to run such an initiative and whether or not it would meet the needs of the community. The initiative, Eat Right Be Bright, is a healthy eating co-operative aimed at those who are less affluent and struggle to eat healthily because of it. Erikson first put his theory into words in 1950 in an article entitled Eight ages of Man (Erikson, 1950). These ages are expanded into more detailed ‘stages ' from Freud 's Psychosexual Stages of Development, as Erikson widens them and goes into much more detail about the tasks that the individual feels they need to perform depending on what stage they are at. Erikson’s theory is all about finding the balance and reaching the reward in each developmental stage before moving on to the next. We chose Portobello as it is the largest school in Edinburgh with 1400 pupils and has a wide range of choices or lunch times close to the school. I.e Portobello High Street, a local Tesco and a Canteen within the school. We arranged with the depute head of the school to go down and meet with a group of 3rd year pupils and asked them to fill out an anonymous questionnaire [APPENDIX-2] to give us an indication of their feelings about healthy eating and how they had their dinner at home. We then had a chat about the questions with them and received extremely encouraging and positive feedback from the sample. The Majority of the Participants agreed that if healthy food appeared to be cheaper they felt more people would purchase it. This is exactly what the recipe book aims to do.
