In the Christian religion, Easter has become a grand day of celebration in honor of the resurrection of Christ. Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first full moon after a specific time and varies on how the day is followed throughout. Each denomination of the faith varies on the celebration day, hosting various outings and activities. Specifically, the Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox denominations of Christianity view and celebrate the Holy Day of Easter differently. In addition to the various amounts of changes throughout the denominations, Easter has become modernized to what the world now sees as a big bunny handling colorful, candy-filled eggs for little children, making smiles appear left and right. It holds one of the most important commemorations of Christ and allows these Catholics to thank Christ for all he has done for them. Easter, the resurrection of Christ, “marks the triumph of good over evil, sin and death. It is the singular event which proves that those who trust in God and accept Christ will be raised from the dead” (Catholic Online). This shows that Easter marks a day in which Catholic Christians can thank God for showing them that anything is possible as long as you believe in him. However, Protestants specifically attend sunrise services that “are gathered before dawn and reflect the arrival of the woman at Jesus’ tomb early in the morning… [they] take outdoors, often in church yards, cemeteries, or in parks, and are times so the sun will rise during the course of worship” (Catholic Online). Furthermore, it is said to believe that the modern-day Easter bunny originated within the Protestant faith.
