The day of Pentecost was, the day in which God sent the promised Holy Spirit. It is believed that Pentecost is the day in which the church started.
From a spiritual view, this is when the spirit was bought into existence and enlivened the church and the people. The day of Pentecost is referred to as the church’s birthday.
“Pentecost” is a Greek word, and means ‘fiftieth”, relating to the 50 days following the Passover.
The people dwelling in Palestine at the time of Pentecost were mainly from agricultural society with a spring harvest of grains and fruits that was taking place. Many pilgrims had made a long journey to be present for the Shavuot.
