Donald Trump
To run, or not to run, that is the question.
Through the ages, the great land that we live in, The United States of America, has had many great presidents come and go. From the founding father George Washington to the controversial William Clinton. Many of these presidents had a good reason for even wanting to have this challenging job, whether it was their true virtue of being a man or having the support of the whole nation. As we enter the gateway into the millennium, a new challenger enters the pathway. Donald Trump, a billionaire, real estate tycoon, and an international monetary icon. With all this under his belt, one has to wonder what he has to accomplish in running for president.
Right now, he lives in his New York high rise penthouse with his name all over his building, appropriately named TrumpTowers. Now when you compare the building that houses this front-runner and compare it to the picture on the back of a twenty dollar bill, one can see many differences. First, this building, the White House, will never be able to bear his name, as do many of his establishments. Also the size is an issue, Donald Trump hasn't lived on the second floor of any building in many years. This all brings about a question that Stone Phillips asked in a recent interview on Dateline NBC.
"How serious are you about this?" Phillips asks (Phillips). The bold answer came out in no time, and had a very earnest tone to it.
"I'm looking at it very seriously. I mean you look out the window and you see all of what I've got going and all that I have to loose." Trump replies
Being a candidate for presidency, having everyone take you serious would have a major effect on the turn out. But Trump says that he doesn't think of himself as a "great promoter" but more as a "great builder and conceptualizer."
Back in the early 1990's, the real estate market that he surrounded himself with crashed. He took a loss of over $9,000,000. This money that he used came not from him, but from his trusting banks. Would he play the country like this? Sources say not. In Biographical Monthly, prior to his even thinking about running for president, Trump can be quoted "that no matter what the job, he would give all his money to get the best end result, if that was the price of course.
Donald J. Trump, is known to many as the orange man who wags his finger down a long table of celebrities firing them left and right every Sunday night on NBC. To others he is known as the billionaire tycoon, who graces our headlines for remarkably insensitive or oddball remarks. All (not even possibly Mr. Trump himself), at least until now, viewed him as a possible candidate for the next President of the United States. But as polls indicate, and citizens across the country (both moderate and conservative) vote in favor of Trump, he may very well be sitting in the oval office come January 20th, 2017. Whether this strikes fear in your heart, or tremendous hope is beside the matter, no one can deny the fervor and mania Trump
First of all, Donald Trump is a businessman-not a politician. He received his degree in Economics/Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance. In 2007, Forbes Magazine reported his annual earnings in entertainment alone to be $32 million. This would have meant a significant pay cut, had he become United States President. Currently, he is the producer and star of “The Apprentice,” which has been on air since 2004 (“The Apprentice”). He holds multiple offices at the Trump Organization, and is also a chairman of Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, Incorporated (Project Vote Smart). Donald Trump has put his name on products and companies both successful and unsuccessful, including food products, corporations, and a clothing line. Trump once stated that “The stuff that’s been sent over from China falls apart after a year and a half. It’s crap.” Ironically, the majority of his products are manufactured in China (Webley, 8). How can we expect a man to keep in touch with an entire country when he can hardly keep in touch with his own business? Donald Trump has had some other losses in business as well, including a failed airline business and multiple bankruptcies in his casinos, among other lost investments. (Webley, 3).
However, now that he has won the support of many American citizens, he has become a more calm person and interacts with the other candidates in a calmer manner. As Lakoff denotes, “Since voters’ opinions are neither logical nor self-made, they should be altered, not obeyed. Politicians should ‘not follow polls but use them to see how they can change public opinion to their moral worldview.’” Similarly, Trump as a “businessman” is not a politician, yet tries to change public opinion to his moral
...after the presidency he has devoted his time through the work of his organization the “Clinton Presidential Foundation”. His organization main focus is finding the cure and giving out information on HIV/AIDS, drug acquisitions, and fighting obesity. In 2009 after Haiti was shattered by the earthquake Bill Clinton joined with George W. Bush to help rebuild Haiti, and with his William J. Clinton Foundation he was able to pledge more than one hundred million dollars. He’s a great humanitarian who means well and who tries to do the right thing even thought he had make some huge mistakes in the past. His wisdom and leadership skills did wonders for the United States he brought lots of success and today he’s still recognized as one the great president, and I think if he were to run for office again I think a whole bunch of people would be right behind him supporting him.
Donald Trump can be appreciated for his cunning business savvy and an ability to at various times throughout his career, make it big. By co-creating this reality show with Mark Burnett, not only has he capitalized on the public's desire to fantasize about (and for a precious few, compete for) achieving a high-profile, financially lucrative career as a business mogul, he has also brought to the mainstream audience a heated, emotional and stimulating debate about something that we all seem to have an opinion on: what it takes to be a great leader.
Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. Trump is an arrogant person that doesn’t deserve to be president and doesn’t deserve to be able to run a country; he is acting like a child he is not mature to run for
“He says what he wants to say, insults whom he wants to insult, and never, ever considers apology or retreat.”(Kluger,Jeffrey). I have great respect for this quote of Donald's because it shows that he's not afraid to stand against something or stand up for it. It's quite obvious that he's not afraid to stand up for anything. In my eyes that is the best reason why he deserves so much respect and attention. He always stands up for what he feels is right and takes a very brave man to do that. With that being said I feel Donald Trump deserves the most respect and attention over
Donald Trump is an arrogant candidate for chief executive, who doesn’t acknowledge the views of the people and whose only concern is how much he has in his pocket. He only represents a small portion of individuals and rest differ. Everyone believes that he is rich and successful because he is an entrepreneur and a hard-working citizen. That’s not true. He is only rich because his daddy was rich, not because he strived to get there. So why should we make him president if he chose the easy path and didn’t work to get where he
Trump built an Empire and will run America like a business. Trump is an experienced and tough dealmaker. Trump has led large organizations before. Not too many people look beyond his bankruptcies and the fact that he inherited large sums. However, he leads an enormous, diversified organization that is worth billions of dollars. This takes loads of Leadership, which is very different from knowledge. Leading a large organization makes you set vision, goals and expect results. You do not know the little details of every level of your organization just like the president does not know. (You mentally couldn’t know all that) That is why you delegate and empower and get information when it is needed and the president will have no shortage of people ready to educate him on issues. Trump is a negotiator. One of his most under discussed attributes, but yet one of his greatest assets. Trump’s spent his entire life and career making and negotiating deals. In his own words, he negotiates to win.
With Trumps new ideas on business he wanted to follow his father’s path so the summer after graduating from college he went to go work with his father. He helped the company fiancé a bigger expansion. He eventually moved himself to Manhattan that would offer him opportunities for higher profit. When the Pennsylvania Railroad Company went Bankrupt Trump bought a piece of the land to build an apartment complex but soon realized that it was in poor economic state. Trump then soon promoted the idea of using the area ...
With the many suspicions Donald Trump has raised for running to become president, he has proven he is not capable to run the United States. He cannot be in control of money or even be trusted with that big of a job. If he can not keep his little businesses’ from going bankrupt, he does not have the ability to keep the U.S out of debt. By the actions Trump has portrayed to the people, there are very few reasons on why he should become the president. Therefore, in my opinion Donald Trump is not suited to become President and should not be able to take full control over the United
Donald Trumps speech is directed toward the nation as a whole. Trump ceaselessly uses rhetorical appeals. He uses these appeals to capture the audiences emotions to gain their trust and support. The best example would be unemployement rates, countries debt and even war. Raising issues that effect everyone. This allows you to feel emotionally
As a result of extreme hard work and perseverance followed by an unmatchable drive to succeed, Donald J. Trump has earned the right to be known as a multi-billionaire, real estate icon, and President of the United States of America. Reflecting on his life, he has faced an abounding amount of challenges and overcame them all. To understand how he rose to success and his journey to the top of the kingpin, it is important to recognize how he saw the American dream and pursued it. Today, many will recognize him as the president, but a small percentage of people can fully grasp all that he has done in his life. From his start as a real estate mogul, to his impact on media, there are many questions as to how he became so recognizable today.
