There a small but clear differences between domestic terrorism and international terrorism, that difference is where the terrorist act is planned, supported, and carried out. In the case of domestic terrorism, the act must be planned, supported, and carried out all within the boundaries of the United States. The domestic terrorists must also be domicile to the United States and not be current foreign nationals at the time of the act. If the terrorist act is committed with help from a foreign group, planned or supported in a foreign country or committed by foreign nationals inside the boundaries of the U.S., then the attack may be international terrorism. According to the Department of Homeland Security (2015) “A domestic terrorist differs from a homegrown violent extremist in that the former is not inspired by and does not take direction from, a foreign terrorist group or other foreign power”. The Department of Homeland Security also states that home grown extremists are not bound by borders unlike domestic and international terrorism. Homegrown violent extremists may commit acts that would normally be considered terrorist actions, but are not connected to any terrorist group. Home grown violent extremists are motivated by foreign terrorist ideals but have no direct connection or support from any foreign or domestic terrorist organization. Examples of home grown violent extremists would be the Fort Hood shooter who shared beliefs and ideas of violent radical Islamic terror groups but had no known direct connection to any terror group. The Boston Marathon bombers consisted of an older brother and younger brother with the younger being 20 at the time of the attack. The Beltway Sniper pair also had an older (father figure) and younger perpetrator with the younger being 17 years old at the time of the attack. Both of the younger perpetrators in both groups attempted to use a similar defense in court after their arrest for their terrorist acts. Malvo, the younger Beltway Sniper, attempted to say that he was largely influenced by Muhammad, who was the older perpetrator and was similar to a father figure. When we think of terrorist, we might think of radical Islamic individuals or groups who would take pride in killing anyone who is not Muslim. Even more, there are antagonistically people who want nothing more but to destroy the lives of innocence people because of their belief system. Take an individual like Theodore Kaczynski for instance; he was a former University of California at Berkeley math professor. Otherwise known as the “Unabomber,” he was indeed a terrorist because he used explosives that killed three people and wounded eighteen others in a span of almost two decades. Even more, his brother David Kaczynski was responsible for his capture.
What internally drives a terrorist’s motivation varies from subject to subject. While the average American citizen would likely be quick to point terrorists hate the western way of life and what it represents, the issue is far more complex. If anyone not just juveniles has the capabilities to take someone's life and does so knowing the repercussions, they should be convicted as an adult. In the case of Jennifer Bishop Jenkins who lost her sister, the husband and their unborn child, is a strong advocate of juveniles being sentenced to life without parole. In today’s world there is a huge problem with terrorism and organized crime. Now when a lot of people look at terrorism and organized crime some would think that the two are different and yet in a way they are different but they are the same in a way to. For example terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation for the purpose of political gain (dictionary.com. n.d.). Now organized crime is considered to be the illegal behavior which is carried and planned out by a group of people. Now both of these things are considered to be a crime and are carried out by a group of people in order to achieve their goal of intimidation, money laundering, and chaos. Yet, they are different because terrorism uses violence or the threat of being violent against innocent civilians in order to accomplish their mission. Unfortunately, an organized crime group is a conspiratorial enterprise that is engaged in illicit activities in order to generate money but not to scare or harm civilians.

Young was charged with four accounts of armed robbery, and his partner who was twenty-four years old at the time was only charged with one life sentence. His partners name was Jacque Bethea, and he already had a criminal record before being convicted of armed robbery. While, Kenneth had no criminal history before the robberies had happened. The topic of my paper is types of terrorism. There are several types of terrorism for which to choose for my paper, state, dissident, religious, left-wing v. right-wing, and international. In this paper I have chosen state terrorism, religious terrorism, and international terrorism as the types of terrorism that I am going to discuss. I will discuss what they are in my own words and give examples of two different groups for each type that represent that type of terrorism. The tragic case of Larry and Brandon is a compelling story. It is a reality that stunned the city of Oxnard California when a 14-year-old boy named Brandon McInerney fatally shot a fellow classmate, Larry King, twice in the back of the head. The incident occurred in a computer lab where Brandon ran off after committing the crime. As a result of his actions Brandon McInerney was tried as an adult and was sentenced to 21 years in prison with no chance of parole. He will be released at the age of 39. Now the underlying question is was Brandon’s sentence a just resolution or should he have received more or less years in prison. The truth is that I believe Brandon’s verdict was a fair and just punishment, however I don’t believe that he should have been tried as an adult. There’s no question about it what Brandon did was horrible. He killed a kid in cold blood and ran off after doing it. He knows what he did and now he has to suffer the consequences. But Brandon was only 14 years old when this had taken place.
