With this being the case, just how much impact does technology have on math, and education in general? To put it very simply the impact is huge. Technology provides a student with the confidence to answer a question they normally wouldn’t want to answer on their own. For example let’s say Suzy the student has very low confidence with her division skills. The teacher asks Suzy “what’s thirty divided by fifteen?” Suzy normally wouldn’t have the confidence to answer and would rather tell the teacher to ask someone else, but give Suzy a calculator to check her answer with and she’ll have the confidence to answer the teacher “two”. We can all probably relate to Suzy in one or more ways because we all have things, especially in math, that were not very confident in. By using technology such as calculators in math class, you are able to eliminate the hesitation you might feel when answering questions. Students would feel motivated, they would get work done faster while learning the material to the best of their abilities in a way that is cutting edge.
