The two documentaries that I choose to watch are the documentaries on ecstasy and alcohol. Alcohol dose a lot of damage to a persons body I makes them act in way they may never would if they was sober. Alcohol does damage to the brain and the organs and can even cause death after a certain amount of consumption. Ryan was in a lot of pain because if his disorder. He was throwing up blood, pain while digestion and as the internalist said also chronic pain coming from the pancreas (Kring, Johnson, Davison & Neale, 2014 p 290-291). Alcohol just destroys the body, however most consumers do not care. Alcohol is a drug, but most people do not see it as that because it is not illegal to purchase of the counter. Most people associate drugs such as Ecstasy is no different and could damage the serotonin and dopamine brain receptors in the long run (Kring, et. al., 2014 p. 305). From watching the video, I think that this drug is deadly. Lynn’s case proves that people can develop tolerance to this drug. Which means that person would have to take more of a dosage then before in order to achieve the same high. Taking ecstasy is very dangerous because it interferes with a person’s brain. Ecstasy increases the amount of serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine in the brain (National Geographic a., n.d.). Lynn’s treatment of antidepressant were really effective and helped her cope with her drug abuse. The biological aspect is shown again in this disorder. Ecstasy abuse, claiming that adolescents are more likely to experiment with drugs and make poor decisions because their frontal cortex in not fully developed (Kring, Johnson, Davison, & Neale, 2014, p. I did not pick the same topics as you. I picked alcohol and ecstasy. It seems like there is a lot of connection with a person’s disorder and their biological aspects. I feel the same way you do on the statement about weed. I do not know anyone struggling with drugs. However people who struggle with drugs all the time. I live in Rochester NY and there are a lot of people are drug addicts here. They are normally running around in the street, asking for money from shopper, or consuming alcohol. Alcohol seems like it could be a gateway drug, because it something that is socially accepted within the United States. After a person gets tired with alcohol they may try to use another drug to get the same high because there tolerance is built up off of alcohol. Regardless of the drug of a person’s choice, they have to detox to get the chemical produced by the drug out of their system to try and prevent the need of the drug. I learned a lot from watching the videos, I watched all three of them and they all had some relation to each other. The relation was that drugs are harmful to the body and can be lethal. Great
