Do werewolves exist? According to eleven-year-old Heather Bowey, a werewolf chased her at about four-thirty pm while she was on her way home from sledding with her friends in 1990. They were walking near Loveland Road, which is about a mile and a half away from Bray Road, when she saw a large dog walking along a creek in a cornfield. Heather and her friends assumed it was a dog, so they called it to them. The creature noticed them and stood up directly on its hind legs, but it seemed unaccustomed to walking on them so it dropped down on all fours and charged the children. Without doubt Heather says that the creature was able to leap “a bigger leap than dogs run.” Afterwards the group ran away but the creature followed them two hundred and fifty yards before veering away (Gatto). Many different media sources embellish the existence of werewolves as thought by many people throughout the world even though skeptics say they are fictional. The common day werewolf is better understood after examination of its origin, conventional description and …show more content…
Jean was French and lived near the village of S. Antoine de Pizon. (Otten 62). Jean stated that a man by the name of Pierre Labourant gave him his ability to wear his “wolf skin” (Otten 62). Jean claims that Pierre gave him a “wolf skin cape” that he puts on him every Monday, Friday, and Sunday for an hour which turns him into a werewolf (Otten 64). Jean was described once with, “The complexion was of a dark olive color; the teeth were strong and white, and the canine teeth protruded over the lower lip when the mouth was closed. The boy’s hands were large and powerful, the nails black pointed like birds’ talons. He was ill clothed and seemed to be in the most abject poverty” (Otten 63). In fact Jean once said himself, “I have killed dogs and drink their blood but little girls taste better, their flesh is tender and sweet, their blood rich and warm” (Otten

Power is an entity that is not given to a person, but is inalienable in all people. One must realize that it is not a matter of finding and achieving power, but instead, not letting it get taken away. Angela Carter’s The Company of Wolves and Marie de France’s The Lay of the Werewolf ventures into this idea of power, but specifically, into the role of control in a male-dominated society. Carter prologues her main story with several short stories about the nature of werewolves and relationships between mutating men and the women whom are expected to submit to them. Moreover, in both Carter and Marie De France’s stories, the werewolf acts as a shocking catalyst to urge the reader to consider why the beast of the tale is no longer just animal, but also part human. Above all, the werewolf serves as a symbol of the quintessential alpha male, and what contributes to his dominance and possible success or downfall.
Throughout legends there has always been an old tale that vampires do exist. This myth began with a man known as Dracula, Vlad Tepes, who was brought to popularity by the author Bram Stoker. Another, Elizabeth Bathory, also assisted in the vampire myth.
“ The hunters of this creature know well the existence of Bigfoot, which are too rare to be nuisance to farmers and present only the mildest of dangers to the hunters themselves.” The worldwide fame of the Bigfoot started by the activities of mountaineers this century who have told everyone about its existence. The evidence for the Bigfoot’s existence has so far not been sufficient enough to convince most scientists. Many believe that pranksters have faked some evidence, which includes
Werewolves are indicated in the paranormal activity. The history of werewolves has been out for a pretty long time and people do not know if the story is a myth or not. The history began in Wisconsin in 1936 as a man encountered a large creature towering over six feet and covered in hair. Werewolves are known as lycanthropes, which are mythological or folkloric people with the ability to shape-shift into a wolf or wolf-like creature (Werewolves in Wisconsin, 2014). Werewolves’ features are like a wolf mix with a man, very hairy, big and strong. Werewolves are shape-shifting creatures with unusual speed, strength, reflexes, a...
Six thousand years ago in Northern Europe a teenager named Torak wakes up with his shoulder throbbing in pain. His father lies next to him bleeding from an open wound. The two have been attacked by an enormous demon bear, which is bound to come back at any moment. As he bleeds out, Torak’s father can only bare to say a few more words. He says that the demon bear will only grow stronger with each kill it makes, and he also tells Torak that he has to go to the Mountain of the World Spirit in order to defeat the bear. With his last few breaths he reveals that a guide will find Torak and lead him to the mountain. There is so much more that Torak wants to know, but it is too late. He hears the bear crashing through the forest and takes off in the opposite direction. After running for miles Torak stumbles upon a small wolf den that had been destroyed by a flash flood. The only wolf who survived the flood is a small wolf pup. The pup gives a small howl and instantly memories of the past begin to flow through Torak. At a very young age Torak’s mother died and his father placed him in a wolf den for three months. The wolves took him in and raised him as one of their own. While in the den Torak formed a strong bond with the wolves and learned how to communicate with them. Back at the den the pup begins to howl, and Torak joins in. The two become great friends and treat each other like brothers. The wolf calls Torak Tall Tailness and Torak calls the pup Wolf. The brothers track, hunt, and play together for many moons. Torak comes to the realization that Wolf is his guide, and together they begin to head north towards the Mountain of the World Spirit.
After the arrival of the Europeans and the decimation of the Native American tribes the Bigfoot became more elusive and adopted their current set of rules to stay hidden to the general public at almost any cost. Occasionally a Bigfoot would be spotted. In a few rare cases juveniles would even be
Is Bigfoot really a mythical creature roaming the world? Nobody can answer that question, not if our scientist today. Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti, there are found in Northwestern America. There is another name that Bigfoot is called and it’s Sasquatch. Some people believe in Bigfoot and try to find it. Others who think it’s a ridiculous idea to be searching for something that no one can find. There are others who are in the middle and others who just don’t care. There are evidence from films, eyewitnesses, photographs, hair sample, and footprints.
The existence of Bigfoot isn’t quite certain to be real with the numerous accounts of acclaimed sighting and physical evidence that has been laid on the table for researchers to decipher. From my standpoint, Bigfoot is a cryptozoological creature that has yet to be explained that I’m not for certain about. Radford explained the facts whether the existence of Bigfoot is real or just a hoax. It’s just a matter of time when and where this mythological being will proven to be a new life form amongst us.
There are three pieces of evidence supporting the existence of Bigfoot, the first of which is the thousands of eyewitness accounts. The first recorded sighting occurred in 1870 near a small town in California. The town newspaper, the Antioch Ledger, reported that a “gorilla man” or “wild man” had been sighted in the woods near the town. The paper deemed it unsafe to travel outside unless absolutely necessary because of the beast. Next, in 1901, a lumberjack on Vancouver Island reported seeing a “man beast” washing itself in a river near his base camp. The courageous lumberjack decided there and then to approach the beast and confront him. The strange “monkey man” quickly fled, though, as the man approached the river. Upon examining the tracks left behind, the lumberjack concluded that the prints were almost identical to that of a human, except for the extremely large size. After the incident, many reports began pouring in from the Vancouver area of Canada. The residents of the area became well aware of the existence of a very elusive creature in the area, and it was they who first coined the term Bigfoot. By 1960, thousands of reports on the existence of Bigfoot flooded in from all over the United States. The sightings usually occurred in mountainous, woodland areas near rivers and streams. Many thought that those who claimed such things were crazy, but it was at this time that the inevitable happened: Bigfoot was captured on film.
There is lots of history and many old stories about hairy human like creatures, The oldest of them was from almost 2000 BC and were written on clay tabs and were found in Babylonia. The next earliest found was in 500 BC with ancient carvings and traditions in the ancient Greek and Roman empires (Bigfoot Facts, 2012). Later you then see myths of hairy creatures in medieval Europe. In the European myths the hairy creature does not have horns or a tail and more closely resembles the bigfoot we know today. Bigfoot has been a myth and a traditional part of folklore for centuries, but real sightings of the creature have only started from the early 1800s. Stories and sightings then became ...
While the idea of a real Bigfoot is pretty unconvincing, the stories have caught on. It’s unlikely the idea of Bigfoot will fade any time soon. Even though there is not plenty of evidence for Bigfoot’s existence It’s just a matter of time when they decide to show themselves to the people, that’s why I’ll be preparing you for when that time comes by describing to you their traits, how this creature first got started, and many type sightings.
Firstly, one must understand what the lycanthrope, Greek for wolf-man and interchangeable with werewolf, is. This is no easy task. What they are and how they come into being change from culture to culture and almost from person to person. We are most familiar with the werewolf who was a normal human being who, bit by a werewolf, is now tragically infected with the werewolf disease and metamorphoses into a beast every night or full moon. This werewolf is known as the “victimized werewolf” (Otten 165). A good natured member of society is forced, on a regular basis, to become a sinister beast that eradicates any previous resemblance, in personality and physical appearance, and replaces it with an indiscriminant urge to kill.
Canis Lupus, the Latin term for the “North American Wolf”. A meat eating mammal with the capability of weighing up to 180 pounds and reaching a height of sixty-three inches, the wolf is easily the largest member of the canine family. Over 500,000 wolves once lived in harmony, roaming the Northern Americas alongside the Native American tribes and the rest of the ecosystem. Wolves live in packs, a pack essentially being a family. While the average size of a pack is six to ten, the largest confirmed pack recorded in North America can be found in Yellowstone National Park where the “Druid Pack” numbers thirty-seven strong and counting. There have been alleged reports of a pack that attacked a small Russian town killing thirty horses in just four days. This pack numbered up to almost 400 members. Animal experts remain suspicious due to the fact that this number is almost fifteen times the size of an average sized pack. Wolves heavily rely on their pack. Every member of the pack has a specific job that benefits the pack, without the pack, death would be almost imminent. The pack is set up as a hierarchy, with an alpha male and an alpha female. The alphas get the best of everything, the best part of the kill, the best sleeping spot, and the breeding rights. When hunting, one member will scout ahead and will determine the weakest member of the herd. Once determined, the rest of the pack will chase the animal down and either takes it down on the run or chase it until it tires out. Unlike many predators in the animal kingdom, wolves eat their prey alive. While wolves are known for their spine tingling howls, the howl is not the only way they communicate. “Wolf Language” so to speak, consists of many grunts, snarls, growls, yips, and whines....
Years later however, in 1994, the photograph was reported as a fake by an art teacher named Alastair Boyd who claimed to have saw the animal himself in 1979. Boyd discovered that the picture was nothing more than a wood neck attached to a toy submarine. The Loch Ness Monster may or may not be real. No evidence has been found affirming the creatures existence, but no evidence has been found denying the animals existence either. The truth behind the Loch Ness Monster may never be known, but the legend will continue to expand so long as some still believe.
