Why do we send our kids to school? Really, is it because we want them to grow or that we want 8 hours of quiet for once.In most cases, parents end kid’s to school for them some day get a job. Kids are taught the basics of education but what about their personal happiness? In the oral presentation by Sir Ken Robinson called, Do Schools Kill Creativity argues that school is ultimately one side in education.Through the presentation, Mr.Robinson had a cynical yet wise tone in his speech. He states that intelligence beyond is science or math, there is another side of the brain that the education system is ignoring: “ I believe all kids have tremendous talents and we’re squandering them” (Robinson,Ken). According to Mr.Robinson, this education system was made back in 1900: “Our education system was predicated on academic abilities. And there is a reason, the whole system was invented around the world, there have been no public systems before the 1900 century. They all came into being to meet the needs of industrialism” (Robinson,Ken). By using this example, he showed what needed to be changed. Education was not made to create individuals, it was made to make workers. He displays that school’s end goal is not to show our kids the best future, it is made to form them into what they are not. He continues his critique of the education system by proclaiming: “ Number one, the most useful subjects for work are at the top. So you have probably steered benignly away from thing from school as a kid, things you liked on the ground you’ll never get a job doing it” (Robinson,Ken). School’s try to push kids to only be successful in one field, instead of letting them discover who they are.
