In life, each person, book, movie, and much more contains a worldview or outlook on life as a whole. Lao Tzu states that a worldview is, “When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly. When people see some things as good, other things become bad.” Despite the fact that most people, movies, books, and other components in life do not realize that they have a worldview, in reality, they actually do. One specific example of an element in society that contains a worldview, is the action-filled and world-renowned book entitled Divergent. This specific element contains a striking plotline, worldview, and purpose in order to catch the attention of people around the world.
Beatrice Prior lives in a dystopian world in Chicago. Society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to maintaining a particular virtue defined as Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Being a member of Abnegation, Beatrice must decide whether or not to change factions and possibly leave her family forever. Every sixteen-year-old must partake in the aptitude test in order to determine which faction is best suited. Due to inconclusive results on the aptitude test Beatrice struggles with identifying herself with a specific faction. Ultimately deciding on Dauntless, Beatrice experiences numerous obstacles while competing alongside other initiates, as a result of being Divergent in a Dauntless atmosphere. Undergoing vicious training, Beatrice changes her name to Tris, symbolizing her victory over fear. The scene pans over to Tris discovering that the Erudite faction wants to overthrow the Abnegation government by mind-controlling the Dauntless army. D...

...lms, books, and even people fail to realize that they maintain a worldview of life. A worldview is something like a pair of eyeglasses. It is the lens of which all life is seen through. Essentially, a worldview is the basis of which any film, book, or person views the world. Divergent is just one out of countless elements in life that contains a worldview.
