Discrimination Against Women in Workplace
We now live in a world with diversity and equality. This country has laid the institutional mechanisms so that women seem not discriminated against and accepted it as a mature attitude. People seem rarely to argue with discrimination against women in the school, home and the workplace. The authoritarian and monolithic culture evolved into a cultural center of diversity and creativity. People are different, and that is evolving as a society to recognize and embrace the presence of each other. In fact, our society is rapidly increasing the female activities. This means, women have important roles in this society and affect the industries development. According the National Center for Education Statistics, 57.4% women enroll in college (“College” par. 3). This enrollment is much higher than before. Women are getting more participate in this society and seem to challenge their life in the workplace. Everybody has the right to choose freely on their work themselves. It should be discriminated against women if they strive to get a job offer flexible working conditions to avoid frustration due to childcare and career break. Because women are getting involved in more activities, there are many discriminated issues that follow women in the workplace.
Gender discrimination occurs when gender does not receive equal treatment. Gender discrimination is due treated differently depending on the gender of the people rather than occurring due to differences in men and women. Although our society seems to treat equally everyone, discrimination still exists anywhere. It helps people to break old ineffective patterns and have motivates to move to a new productive way. The training can’t change the employer quickly, but after the training, employer acquire a new ways of perceiving or doing something better and have motivation in their company (19). The training workshop goal provides what bothers people, analyzed own biases and find better communication method with employee. If we don’t have any knowledge how to deal with problem, it can’t solve and continue to follower with matter. Rasmussen refutes that the employers really need to have knowledge about the how to handle this discrimination issues (20). Through the training, employers might change their stereotype toward women and reduce the discrimination in the workplace.
