Since the 20th century, women have fought to gain equal rights. Women all over the world choose to believe they face gender discrimination in the workplace through sexual harassment and unequal pay. All of these statements make it seem as if society is, by nature is against women’s rights, but are these statements true? Are women still being discriminated against? Are women still denied full equality in the workplace? According to Raymond, women often site that they are paid much less than the male employees and often use government data on national labor statistics to illustrate their point. Raymond mentions that even though they can now secure powerful professional, academic, and corporate positions once reserved for men, the ever-present “glass ceiling” still deters the progress of large parts of the female workforce. But this does not mean that an attempt would put an end to it but will always exist as long as we live. People are people and if one can be have a weak mind and does not judge others on their skin color and accept them for who they are, it would be a significant step towards minimizing racism While there has been much progress made towards the idea of racial discrimination in our society there still is work to be done in educating our youth We can change the lives of the people and show examples that many can learn to follow as they get older. By educating children at a young age about the issues of racial discrimination we can reduce the conversion of racial discrimination to future generations.
