Different Learning Styles
Introduction
What is learning? According to the thesaurus in the Eric database, learning is the “process of acquiring knowledge, attitudes, or skills from study, instruction, or experience” (Eric/Thesaurus database, 2001). A learning style is described as “a set of factors, behaviors and attitudes that facilitate learning for and individual in a given situation” (Reiff, 1992, p.7). There are many different ways that children learn. The purpose of this paper is to explain the different learning styles that students may possess and to discuss the importance of planning a lesson that includes different techniques to meet the needs of individual learners. These different learning styles may include the show and tellers, seer and feelers, leader of the packs, verbal gymnasts, wandering wonderers, and movers and groovers (WEAC, 2001). The different learning styles possessed by the student can be affected by the theory of multiple intelligences. According to this theory there are 8 different ways to learn including learning through techniques like logical/mathematical, verbal/linguistic, bodily/kinesthetic, interpersonal, musical, intrapersonal, special, and naturalist (Silver, 2000).
Show and Tellers
I searched through many books and articles about different learning styles and found one that really got my attention. On the WEAC web site I found a page called “A symphony of learning styles.” On this page I found six learning styles. The first is the “Show and tellers” These are learners that like to read and write. They love to make up stories just to share with their friends. These learners love to recall stories that happened to them in the past. They love to share their thoughts with...

I found this book very helpful because it gives you tons of examples of how to put the theories into action in your classroom.

This journal was about a study done on students with different learning styles to see if it would affect their approach to research.

During the late 1790’s to the early 1800’s the entire notion of Zionism emerged. Zionism is the idea to pursue Judaism, and by doing so they must relocate to the Promise Land, which they chose to be Palestine. It is essential to keep in mind that Zionism is not a matter of judgment because if the Jews did not take such action they would have either had to assimilate to life in Europe (meaning religious views as well) or be killed by Hitler’s forces. The Jewish began migrating to Palestine and residing there and slowly began the process of Zionism with the help of the foolishness of Arabs who owned land in Palestine at the time. The state of Israel was essentially born out of the greed of Arab and Turkish landlords and Zionists plans of coming to existence. The Turkish landlords of Palestine were at the top of the pyramid, ranking as the wealthiest while right below them were the Arab landowners who did not even live on the land but did own villages. The bottom of the...
The story of the state of Israel began with a man named Abraham, and a promise that God made to him. God told him to leave his homeland, promising Abraham and his descendants a new home in the land of Canaan, known as present day Israel(Rich, 1). Abraham was a firm believer in God, and decided to carry out his commands, since he knew God would be able to fulfill His promise to him. It was here, that God gave Abraham a unique homeland for his descendents to form a model nation. In the Torah, The Land of Israel was claimed to be the only place on the earth where the Jewish people could create the model nation(Spiro, 1). Jews desired to fulfill God’s plan to create the model nation, forming a strong connection between the land and the people for all eternity. Nonetheless, the Jews have not always been in political control of Israel; foreign nations had always been attacking the land...

There are over 2,405,518,376 internet users on a global scale. More than 50% of the world have a form of Internet censorship, and of those countries China, North Korea, Iran, and Vietnam heavily restrict its citizens. This recent topic has reached new heights in the US with the growing number of access to internet. More and more people are debating whether the internet should be censored. Internet censorship is the control or suppression of what can be accessed, published, or viewed on the internet. This would affect everyone and me. I specifically use the internet to read about controversial view and other information that gets ignored by the media or isn’t circulated anymore. Most of these sites would fall in the black list of censoring. A small percentage of users post conspicuous posts, graphic material, and infringing copyright links. Although inappropriate it shouldn’t demand internet censorship, because it goes against the individual rights of the people. Freedom of speech and press will be restricted by the government. To a point where people would be scared to express themselves, or spread information for they might be punished. Even if their opinion is erroneous and maleficent, it’s still that person’s opinion and he’s entitled to it. Same can be said for the common good everyone should be able to voice their opinions without censorship anywhere. Everyone should also have the access to any information on the internet. If anyone is offended by what is said on the internet, then they can remember to not visit the webpage next time and hold themselves accountable. This paper will examine the issue of internet censorship constituting a violation to the American people individual rights, common good, and the constitution.
Our society is advancing through the internet, not digressing from it. We are learning to be more understanding and stand up for each other because of it, as it creates links around the globe. We are able to remain in contact with old friends, keeping relationships going, and making contact with people we would never meet in our lives away from the computer screen. It exposes us to so much, and opens are minds to the world, providing an opportunity for expression, and a chance to have an impact on the world and each other. To censor the internet would not only be a great injustice to all the advancements we have made through this immense mass of networks, but a crime against humanity and its freedoms themselves.
Who here would like to go to war? Who wants a cheap and effective, strategic war? If you want that, then drones are the weapons to use. They’re cheap and effective, reduce unnecessary deaths, and are much more accurate than any other weapon. These are only a few reasons for why drones are the ultimate weapon of choice.
The ignorance presented within media affects people of color negatively as well. The Clark Doll Test presented this in the 1950s. Their tests show that black children felt inferior to white children. In 2010, CNN conducted a study amongst New York and Georgian children similar to the Doll Test used in the case Brown vs Board of Education led by Professor Margaret Spenser. White children had “white bias”. According to the study, this meant that they identified “the color of their own skin with positive attributes and darker skin with negative attributes”. Black children had bias towards white people as well. Despite the infamous Clark Doll Test being over half a century old, it shows that the ideals have not changed. It led her to conclude that even in 2010, “We are still living in a society where dark things are devalued and white things are valued.”

Internet is a powerful tool that allows users to collaborate and interact with others all over the world conveniently and relatively safely. It has allowed education and trade to be accessed easily and quickly, but all these benefits do not come without very taxing costs. This is especially true when dealing with the likes of the Internet. Countries in the European Union and Asia have realized this and have taken action against the threat of net neutrality to protect their citizens, even at the cost of online privacy. Internet censorship is required to protect us from our opinions and vices. Every country should adopt Internet censorship and regulation since it improves society by reducing pornography, racism/prejudice, and online identity theft.
Some of the most common misconceptions about drones arise due to the lack of knowledge about what drones are. A drone is a remote controlled, pilotless aircraft that can be used to survey an area, conduct stealth missions, and deliver supplies into difficult to reach areas (Drone). Unmanned aircrafts are also, contrary to popular belief, not solely machines that kill without even a thought to who is being fired upon. They have proved to be effective surveillance units in areas that may be dangerous for manned aircrafts to fly, along with the potential to be reliable delivery units (Drones). With the new delivery capabilities, the time it takes for packages to be delivered across long distances could be cut down to a matter of hours...
Another name for drones are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS). These are “aircraft either controlled by ‘pilots’ from the ground or increasingly, autonomously following a pre-programmed mission” (Cole 4). Even though there are many unique types of drones, but they usually fall under two main categories: ones that are armed and equipped with missiles and bombs and others that are used for surveillance. In the past couple of years the use of drones has increased dramatically. The reason being because “unlike manned aircraft they can stay aloft for many hours and are flown remotely so there is no danger to the flight crew” (Cole 13). There are drones that can actually fly over more than fifty hours. In countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, the Predator and U.S Reaper are physically there. Cause of the power of technology th...
Free speech on the Internet is a very controversial subject and has been the key problem surrounding the Internet today. The attempt to regulate and govern the Internet is still pursued by government officials. This subject has been intensified due to terrorist attacks against the United States and around world within the past years. The government believes that by regulating the Internet, it will protect the general public from criminal actions and eliminate the exposure of children to pornography or vulgar language. Senator Jim Exon of ...

Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
