In the common world, the newfound love is believed to change people’s lives by giving them new perspective of the world – often beneficial but also often negative. In one of the most beloved work of Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Oberon, the king of the fairies, feel jealous of prideful minded Titania, the queen of the fairies, for which Oberon uses a magic love potion to hoodwink Titania into falling in love with a donkey-headed man. Similarly, in Hitchcock’s movie Vertigo, Scottie’s vertigo results him to be used as a victim for the cunning plan of Elster, Scottie’s old friend, for killing Elster’s wife. Throughout first half of the movie, Scottie sees Madeleine/Judy performing odd behavior including the suicidal attempt and unable to remember the past events, but Scottie embraces Madeleine, “The Chinese say that once you have saved someone's life, you are responsible for it forever…I'm here, I've got you…All the time” (00:54:28 – 00:57:08). Despite the fact that Scottie first is skeptical of Elster’s description of Madeleine, Scottie feels pity toward her and realizes that his feeling toward Madeleine/Judy is no longer only of care but of love. During the first meet with Elster, Scottie was in full sense that he did not take the story of Madeleine seriously, but Scottie’s strong attraction of love toward Madeleine blinded eye eyes away from realizing that he is only being used for Elster’s deceitful plan. After the suicidal scene of Madeleine, Scottie scavenges all around the city for traces of Madeleine/Judy, finding a brunette named Judy, whose appearance resembles Madeleine, and Scottie insists on changing her appearance to be more like Madeleine, in which Judy gives up protesting by saying “I want you to love me.
