Over the past couple of day I was able participate in the diet analysis where I was able to actually see how my diet behavior. By participating in this diet I was able to see thing I need to improve on and things that I thought was healthy and they turn out to not be healthy. For the diet analysis I wrote down all my activity and eating behavior for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I chose to do my diet analysis on these days because those all different for me but have similar days like those days during the rest of the week. Participating in this activity was very helpful and helped me realize certain things. In regard to my diet and eating habit over the past couple of days there are a few things which I think I did well for my overall health. …show more content…
For myself there are a few things which I can improve. The first thing is trying to achieve my calorie intake. At my age we are supposed to be intaking about 1,800 calories per day. Over the three days of doing the log I never met the daily intake of calories. On Sunday I was over by two hundred calories and on Monday and Tuesday I was under by a couple hundred calories. Another thing which I can improve is exercising more. With my busy schedule with classes and homework it is hard for me to set times aside during the day to work out or exercise. One last thing which I need to improve on is making sure I consume more water than I do right now. I find it difficult it consume water because attending school you don 't always have access to water unless you bring a water bottle. Water is very important for you health so you can stay hydrated. There are three things which I need to improve on within the next couple of weeks. To improve on achieving my daily calorie intake I am going to be a lot more observant of what I consume. I will make sure every day that I get to my daily calorie intake and that I don 't go over. To achieve more exercise, I am going to set a goal that during the week I at least set time aside to workout at least two times during the week. Working out for me is the best way for me to getting all the stress and worries I have at that time particular time. Lastly to achieve consuming …show more content…
They were accurate for myself because over the three days each day was a little different. But the three days I chose to do the log also represented other day that are like that during the week. The only thing it would not be accurate for is if during the week I workout of a hour, as you can see during the three days I did my dietary log I did not have time to work out. Since I started college I haven 't had opportunity to work out because I have been so concentrated on school and trying to catchup up with all the school work I missed while I was with my Mom in the hospital. As of today I am completely caught up with school so hopefully with being caught up with school I now will have the time to go and work out during the day. Overall the three days I did my diet log and analysis were accurate representation on what an average week looks for myself. By participating in the diet analysis I was able to see thing that I need to improve on for my overall health. By seeing the things I need to improve on, I set a few goals which I hope I can achieve in a couple of weeks. The goals I set for my self are goals involving things I need to do every day to improve my health. This activity was very helpful because before writing down what I ate every day, I truly didn 't care what ate or how much calories I intake on daily basis. From this day forward I am going to be more concerned about my health and how I
For this part of assignment, I kept record of two consecutive days of what I ate for that days and how much calories I got from that food and drinks. Every day I usually start routine with drinking water which I think is the most important thing for a healthy lifestyle. Apart from this, I learned some following main points to help me by comparing my food chart with the recommendations
Throughout the Diet Analysis Project, I was able to analyze and inspect my diet to examine what I was eating, what types of nutrients I was getting and how much exercise I was participating in over a week’s period. Through this period, five of the days were back to back and the last two was a weekend day. I then compared all aspects with my recommended levels of nutrients for my dietary recommended intake and the calories burned through exercise versus my calories consumed through what I was eating. I needed to ensure the nutrients I was getting would allow a good fit for staying healthy and reaching, but not overextending, my needed nutrient levels. I found some very interesting facts that pertained to my diet that were good and then some
The purpose of writing this paper is to discuss the pros and cons of my diet. The nutritional analysis have thought me that my choices are not terrible but they are not the beast. However, a healthy lifestyle is necessary if I want to enjoy this life without health complications. Always Including some form of vegetable, fruits, and carbohydrates in my diet is ideal. However, that may not be on a regular basis and the portion might be too small to make a difference or too much to cause harm. I have learned how many grams of fat, saturated fat and protein should be consumed per day by my body.
The comparison of my two-day nutrition intake to recommendations demonstrates that I do not consistently consume a healthy diet. I do not follow the recommendations in the Food ...
This process has not been easy and I have struggled to stay consistent with my healthy eating habits. Keeping my cravings under control has always been a challenge and my love of bread makes things a little harder. I also recognized that I am a stress eater. I had never paid attention to my eating patterns until I begin to keep a journal. This project has definitively helped me monitor and attain a better Healthier lifestyle.
Nutrition, I have learned plays a big part in our life. To be honest I was clueless about how much nutrition affected our everyday lives. I love going to the gym working out, now that I know what should go into my diet I think I will see a lot more improvement. I occasionally follow the latest diet fads because I believed it would be better for my health, but in turn it really hurt more than it helped! This Diet Analysis project has been extremely useful course because I can personally relate to it and can use much of the information learned to my daily routines. The Diet Analysis project was a real eye opener because it let me see what exactly I was putting into my diet.
The question comes up again; “How is your diet?” Jessica revisited her diet analysis from the first week of class. She noticed that some things have changed and some things, unfortunately, have not changed. She knew that some things would not change because of the hectic and busy semester and summer she had ahead of her but the things that did change surprised her. This class did some good for her, but she still needs some work on her diet and nutrition.
In the original three day diet analysis, Susanne Coleman found that she was not eating from all of the food groups recommended by the food pyramid. Particularly, she was not eating the amount of fruits, vegetables and grains recommended. While she felt she made wise food decisions, there was room for improvement. When completing another three day diet analysis, Susanne received different results. After completing the original three day diet analysis, Susanne has been more conscientious of her food choices. Since the first analysis, Susanne has begun to plan meals ahead and to pack her meals for the day to stay on track.
I am not unhappy about the result, because compared to my normal eating habit, this result is way better. During the 3days food analysis, I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone, just to try something different. It was uncomfortable to tell you the truth, because eating breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner, wasn’t something I normally do. My usual intake is a cup of water in the morning for breakfast, or just skip breakfast and have lunch with a friend on campus.
Overall, I am pleased with the changes that I have made to my diet, and plan to continue working towards my goals. In order to accomplish my goals in the future, I will try to slowly increase my fruit, vegetable, and whole grain consumption. Another goal that I need to work on will be to slowly limit the amount of meat products that I consume. Incorporating these changes will help me to accomplish my goals of increasing my calories and decreasing my protein intake to the recommended values set by the Dietary Reference intakes. As long as I can continue to practice these healthier ways of eating, I am sure to have a longer and healthier life and decrease my risks of chronic diseases as I age.
This diet critique will be from everything I ate from Sunday, February 7 to Saturday, February 13. According to my dietary reference intake (DRI), I was allowed 2191 kcal for the week and I consumed 1978kcal. I met 90.3% of what I am allowed, although it Is on the higher end of the range it is still within. My calories from fat were 647kcal and my max allowed is 767kcal. Although I did not go over the minimum I was allowed was 438kcal so I still went over 209kcal from fat in which could be avoided. Checking the fat content on my snacks and limiting myself could reduce my actual intake while still being in range. The same applies to my total fat intake. My max was 85g and I consumed 72g when the lowest could have been 49g.this is still 23g of fat consumed that I did not not. Especially for trans fat I consumed 3.2g when ideally it should be 0g. Eliminated trans fat as a whole because there is no nutritional benefit would eliminate this entirely from my diet. My omega 6 and omega 3 intakes did not meet my DRI. I consumed only 3.9 g or omega 6 when my DRI is 12g and I consumed 0.5g of omega 3 when my DRI was 1.1g. To increase my omega 6 intake, I could start using grapeseed oil instead of the cheapest one I find which may not be the healthiest. I already use purchase grapeseed oil for my hair so getting another bottle to cook with would be easy. To increase my omega 3 intake, I could start consuming more beef and salmon in my diet, the majority of the meat I eat in my diet is chicken, so this switch could add variety.
I would plan my meals out for the day and place them in the system and see what my outcome would be before I cook or prepare them from me and my son. I also tied to bake a lot of my foods and not fry them. I eliminated a lot of salts and sodium from my diet as will. The food tracker counts everything! I made to sure not to substitute to many to snacks to replace my craving of bread. Me and my son came up with fun things to eat like the old school peanut butter and celery with raisins for snacks. On the third day we actually ate nothing but veggies for dinner like asparagus, corn, and sliced Irish potatoes. The meal was very different but for my son to like it I was shocked. I even
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
