The Devestating Causes of Water Pollution

Roughly 60 to 95 percent of any living thing is water and about 70 percent of the earth is covered with water. With this being said, anyone can tell that water is a very important aspect to life. Only a fraction of a percent of all the water on earth is available for human use, therefore it should be taken care of and used wisely (Agarwal). Over time the water has gotten contaminated to the point of major concern for not only human health but for all other organisms too. For many years water pollution has become a ponderous complication because of its deleterious effects and humans being the most frequent cause of this pollution. Urbanization, industrialization, and agriculture are just a handful of the many causes of water pollution that is destroying and harming wildlife and human health. If it cannot be fixed or prevented, the results will be detrimental (Stauffer).
While the human population has had rapid growth for many years, in turn it has caused urbanization to also increase. Humans have made it possible to live and construct almost everywhere on earth. With new cities, neighborhoods, and buildings going up one right after the other it has engendered an enormous rise in water pollution on a global level (Chang). Our drinking water is being jeopardized because of our careless ways in constructing our own habitats (Goel). The reason urbanization fosters so much contaminants is because of the unnatural increase in land use activities, though we have started to use green infrastructure in some areas it still has not been enough to stop the overwhelming amounts of pollutants that are being found in our water today (Chang).
Industrialization being a key factor in the growth of any country has its flaws, one of them...

Though it may seem like water is a renewable resource because of the way people talk about it and play it out, it is in fact nonrenewable because there is a certain amount available for our use (Agarwal). Even though it is challenging to make decisions based off the future and for our future generations, it is in everyone’s best interest to do so because if we make educated decisions about our water use and water problems today it will not only help us, but help everyone in the future. Industries cannot keep dumping countless amounts of pollutants in our waterways, and cannot keep ignoring the importance of having safe drinking water (Stauffer). The government can only do so much, so it is time people start acting before it is too late to do anything about the overwhelming effects of water pollution.
