The name of their design consultancy most likely stems from the age old adage of ‘bleeding for one’s art’ in addition to the last of ten short phases that make up the official manifesto. ...offers the idea that graphic design doesn’t have to be stationary, as the masses traditionally believe it to be.
The Bleed team based out of Oslo and Vienna are quietly successful, other than appearing at sporadic creative conventions, they have been unobtrusively building a massive client base including IKEA and Norwegian airlines. And they have been winning, or at least placing, in large design competitions, like the European Design Awards, since their inception in 2001. They offer the idea of simplicity that is revolutionary in a time of mass market flooding of garish and ideological notions that don’t deliver on actual designs. Bleed Studios represent a respect for the past in addition to keeping an eye on the future with simplistic and effective design employing a strong usage of typography in order to convey rather than obscure the main message of the project.
