The city was blinding me with shining lights that you could see from space. It was glistening in the night and dull by day. There were cars parked all alongside the streets and traffic jams every corner.
The place that I visited was New York City over the summer about three years ago. My mom and I stayed with my aunt who lives in Poughkeepsie, which is about thirty minutes outside of New York City. Poughkeepsie is a small town that you find outside of a big city, it was a small family owned shops that consisted of knick knacks and second-hand stores. My mom and I got in on a late Friday night so we didn 't go out to see the town and instead headed to bed.
It was no later than we went to bed and it was soon Saturday morning and we were up and ready for the day. My mom and I headed into the small town to see what they had and afterward to the big city. After we

We had to go through a metal detector, and the security officers had to search us for any type of weapon. My mom and I went through several roped lines and were soon on an elevator. The elevator took us up to the top of the building so we could overlook the city. The overlooking view of the city made it look marvelous in the daytime and it made me want to come back during the night. The view from the top was very nice and I could even see the Statue of Liberty.
Once we were done sightseeing we decided to head to Time Square and do some shopping. Before we got to Time Square, we saw a flea market and decided to stop and look around. They had just random things from the sellers like knives to Indian tribe trinkets.
We got done looking through the stuff at the flea market and headed into Time Square. We stopped in a Hershey candy shop that was three stories high. They had this new kind of candy bar called Hershey air and we both have never seen it before. The candy bar had air bubbles inside of it instead of it being a solid
The next morning I had to go back home with my mom and brother. It was a great weekend spending time with my
Certain themes present themselves throughout Charles Dickens’ famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities. These themes of love, good versus evil, and the class of upper and lower classes permeate the entire book. However, one such theme stands out. The theme of redemption also manifests itself in every part of the novel. Redemption and resurrection attract the reader’s attention because of the obvious biblical parallels. Dickens writes these themes into A Tale of Two Cities for this exact reason. In exploring right vs. wrong, he gave his audience a cause worth dying for, and characters who would. These characters, while flawed, still represent a very biblical worldview. Sydney Carton, specifically, dies to redeem himself, to further his cause, and to give their life for the one he loves. However, Dickens alludes to the theme of redemption throughout his novel. Using various literary devices like foreshadowing, and allusion, and through the character of Sydney Carton, he drives home his point.
...headed home. On our way home we stopped by the glass museum. It was amazing it was filled with beautiful glass art pieces. I almost broke some but I avoided that. There was this stand that we went to and it was a guy sculpting melted glass. It was so fascinating how swiftly and fast he did it, he made it look so easy.
Towards the end of the 1980s and early 1990s, a new form of urban thinking and rationalization made its way into the world of urban planning. This way of reinterpreting urban planning was known as New Urbanism, and throughout the following years until present, New Urbanism became a new way of thinking about urban planning, revolving around ideals of pedestrian-oriented societies, as well as a need for diversity among its social and economic aspects. These ideas encompassed old urban concepts like the City Beautiful Movement and Garden City as well as incorporating more modern perceptions, such as a need for civic engagement and the need to incorporate the use of public transportation into plans.
In my senior year of high school, I took a trip to Seattle, Washington. We sightsaw most of the greatest parts of Seattle, like Seattle Waterfront Tour, the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and even the Experience Music Project Museum. There is one place that has really stayed vivid in my memory, it was my time a Pike Place Market. I could witness some amazing things, such as the tossing of the fish and beautiful bouquets of flowers lining the entrance. When you visit a new place, it can be the most exciting and liberating experiences.
I have heard stories from my peers about how loud it is in New York City and after seeing how the driving is, there I found a lot of things in common. People were screaming at each other, honking and sometimes sharing some “nice words” to one another. The body language is the same and the level of patience as well; the only difference I found is that drivers slow down when you cross. In my country you have to dodge the cars most of the times when you cross the road. People walk so fast! I tried to keep the rhythm with the lady who is leading me to the museum and after two blocks she was forty steps ahead. I saw many people making a line for a cup of coffee and walking with their cups all over, I saw secretaries and office assistant holding may be six cups of coffee for their work mates that made me to enter Starbucks for coffee. Part of diversity that New York offer is that you can find people from all over the world working in the City, but the hot dog stands are taken by middle Eastern people, I love the
Although it has been years since our most recent visit to the shore side of Ocean City, New Jersey, the memories and senses never abandon my mind. All I can recall is the wondrous combination of the scorching heat, the grainy sand in between my toes, and the overwhelming smell of salt and delicious foods . . . I feel as if I am standing right there right now! Who could ever relinquish the beauty of the shore, the healing the shore accomplishes, and the tastes of the wondrous foods?
Hello and welcome. As the day started to dwindle down, we got annoyed with all the little kids running around and trying to outrun each other and parents yelling at them, we thought we would call it a day. Before we would go back to the hotel we decided to expand our looking of the city and take in all the sights and smells of Tennessee. We thought we would go above and beyond of what we did a couple days ago and we got to see much more and also some very charming houses. My father asked my sister and I some questions on the way
Without a doubt, Times Square in New York City is a unique experience, but the image created by TV and movies does not show the gloominess that accompanies the euphoria of being in the Big Apple. The atmosphere is so exhilarating and exciting, you don’t even know what to do for a few minutes, but it is tinged with the bitter reality that sadness and melancholy also trail closely behind the positive. With most, if not all, of your senses being stimulated – sometimes all at once – Times Square creates a memory that will surely be cherished, and haunt you for the rest of your life.
I’ve finally made it. When you first land here the immediate difference is all around you whizzing around you creating a sense of life. It 's a sense that you rarely have in a small town it 's bigger I can’t quite obtain a hold of it. It moves fast all through the night and during the day. It peaks in all of my senses to create a brand new sense of the life of the city.
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
A. A metropolitan region is a region consisting of one or more central cities and their surrounding suburbs. For example, North East Ohio consists of Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown and their surrounding suburbs.
It was like any normal day. My dad picked me up after work to take me to our new house that he was in the process of building. When we arrived I went to see if my friend next
