I have always found it fallacious that so many people feel the need to speak about someone and assume things that are completely inaccurate. As an older brother I have I had alot of responsibities, so sometimes I babysit my little Brother who is 3 years old. However everytime I go out in public with my little Brother people always assume that he’s my son. I never get frantic but every now and then someone will make an absurd comment that I would not be so kind to. I remember one weekend day after taking my brother to the park, we decided to go to Jack In The Box. When we ordered our food I felt like there were these two ladies staring at me from their table. As me and my Brother sat down at our table to wait patiently for our food, I overheard the same two ladies gossiping while still staring at me. They were staring as though aliens just landed in front of them. Then one of the ladies had the audacity to come up to the table where we were sitting. She told me in a rude manner that I looked to young to have a child, and this would be the biggest mistake that I ever made. At that very moment I felt so disrespected and enraged with this women 's ignorant comment. After deciding to keep my composure I corrected her by saying that I was with my little brother and that she couldn’t have been more abrupt with her remarks. At the end she knew that she was wrong but refused to apologize and instead stormed off with her friend. This would not be the first nor the last time someone would choose to make a rude comment and assume that I am my little brothers Father. Even if I was his father, no one should feel the need to judge, because there are young parents who do the best they can for their child and the last thing they need is to be crit... ... middle of paper ... ... well. I said thank you as I gave her a big hug. That day was actually my first time performing as a young artist and it went better than I expected. Although I choose to be more positive and conscious with my lyrics since that altercation I had with my aunt, there have been plenty more people who make the assumption that I 'm like every other rapper on the radio. In my life I would definitely say I 've seen some people with bad manners. I know for a fact that I also have bad manners but I 've never been rude to anyone. Understanding that we need to stop judging each other and instead love each other will take us one step closer to some peace in this world. At the end of the day we need to work on encouragement and positive thoughts for other people. If more people thought before they acted there would definitely be less conflict and more building for the future.
My portfolio absolutely reflects my understanding of persuasive writing. Persuasive writing focuses on the ability to formulate an essay that takes an argumentative stance, but takes the opposition into consideration as well. My portfolio also represents the goals and objectives of persuasive writing. The essays I have written for this course demonstrate that I have certainly developed my critical thinking skills, and developed, or better yet, mastered my communication and personal responsibility skills; but, because of my occasional lack of analysis and issues with word choice, my writing process is not perfected.
Through most of my time in high school, I always found myself writing more of exploratory writing for two simple reasons; it took a shorter amount of time, and relating writing to my personal experiences was something I had no need to look up. Exploratory writing is a time to take advantage to relate your own personal experiences and an attempt to make a connection with a certain reading. The experiences you have will not be exactly the same as you’re classmate and might be very enjoyable to read. Lamott and Hairston both use explanatory and exploratory writing in their essays by explaining the techniques of what good writers do and applying their own personal experiences. By applying both explanatory and exploratory in their essay they are able to provide the reader with new ideas they can adopt to improve their writing skills.
Elements of characterization summarizes each character and the role played. It’s the combination of the way the author shows the readers what a person in a literary situation is like. Elements of characterization include some of the following; protagonist, antagonist, flat, round, static, dynamic character and so forth. After viewing the film “The Help”, there was many different types of characters, but only a few stood out from the rest. Within my essay I will discuss the characters that stood out the most to me.
The United States is made up of multiple cultures and race, but that’s not all, we also have different Englishes. While the main language in the US is English, people use different Englishes. What I mean by different Englishes depends on what group of people one is talking to. One English can be known as sophisticated English referring to talking to a professor. As opposed to the English we use with our friends. Everyone has a unique way of communicating. In the United States, after people learn English they realize they go from using one English to using different Englishes without knowing, in order to communicate, whether it be with parents, professors, or your own pets.
November 2011, the first year I got to go hunting with my dad. I got excited for this year because I became old enough to shoot my first deer with my dad in the hunting stand. I thrived to get my first buck all through November (SV). The night before opening day my dad and I usually go out to chat with my uncles and tell hunting stories at our shack. My uncles always tell old stories of when they got their first buck, and I became nervous knowing I might have a chance at one tomorrow. We drove home that night and I didn't get much sleep at all because I had constant excitement flowing through my body knowing I get to go on my first hunt tomorrow.
This semester entering English 102 I thought of myself as a bad writer with a lot to say and no idea how to coordinate it or express it. A big reason why I took English stretch composition was to strengthen my writing skills. I feel like I have a better idea of where to put my ideas but I really need help with the technical writing and how to do research papers correctly. My concerns over the semester are not the same as they were at the beginning, they have changed. One of my concerns was that I wouldn’t know how to organize a college essay, but that concern is gone now. A new concern I have this semester is my run on sentences and the punctuation and the lack thereof.
First thing I experienced walking into English 101 as a freshman was anxiety and nervousness. Going through high school I was never really good at English and having English 101 as my second class as a freshman was eye opening. I have learned to use proper technique while writing papers, looking through my paper for grammar errors and also that it is always good to ask for help when confused and if you are stuck on a paper.
Writing a novel is a illusory tale style. It illuminates truth that delivers compassion in worlds that are completely fictional. No one is born as a writer. Do you believe that we are capable to be writers? It may be impossible as it may look but yes. If you have the enthusiasm for it, strive to make it happen. Writing a novel is easy as writing ABC. Writing a novel is not a very complex thing. It is just like painting, cooking and drawing. It is a skill. Your thought is all that it needs to get it started. The hard part is how you will make it than it really is.
Narrative writing is a genre of writing that all students use at some point in school, whether it’s elementary, high school, or college. With Narrative writing I’m sure people have different views than I do and might not enjoy it as well as I. But I’m sure there are others that enjoy it the same if not more than me. This form of writing can be a chance to escape from reality and have fun with your writing. Narrative writing can consist of many different stories from created ones to real life experiences, such as a story starting out true but ending with a twist.
Writing a decent essay can be nerve racking, time consuming, and can be accompanied by many trial and errors such as an art project. First you have to generate an idea, which can be the biggest challenge of them all. Then you have to decide on what details to incorporate and the placement for it. You begin to throw colors and shapes together in hopes that it will transform into a pleasing design. This all takes time, being challenged to create artwork, whether it be an essay or a painting, in sixty minutes becomes even more nerve racking and mind boggling. After last week’s timed writing practice, I was able to experience the dreadful event of producing a piece of artwork, which in my case was to deliver an essay,
Scotty makes some good points here. I too have seen some people act very impolite. As a cashier in a beauty supply salon for almost a year, I have met three kinds of rude customers. The first kinds of buyers are the people who just care about their benefits and are never concerned about others’ thinking. A woman came to my beauty store to ask for something free because she spent over three hundred dollars. But I explained that we were whole sale, and all the prices here were already cheaper than other stores. However, she still kept asking for some stuffs free of charge. Seeing I was busy with another customer, she replied, “You’re so cheap.” Then she left. Other kinds of customers are quick-tempered people. For example, once I answered the phone, a guy was yelling at me without saying any greeting. “Where’s my stuff? Why didn’t you send it to me? I really need it for today” he questioned me with a “heavy” tongue. After asking him to recheck his order patiently, he found out that he forgot to order it.
I thought I had mastered the ability of becoming an effective and efficient writer when I was in high school, but to my surprise I would later learn that there was much more for me to learn about writing. I did not always consider myself a good writer. In fact, it was something I had to work at in order to improve. As I continued my education in college, I gained more and more knowledge about writing. I learned different forms and styles of writing and a variety of details along with basic fundamentals that accommodated the specific classes had to write for. I always seemed to struggle with sentence structure and clarity. My teachers would often ask me what I was referring to in the paper or what was the main point from my statements. I hope
... and that everyone matters. Our children's future and success will be enhanced by the use of appropriate behavior. Let us create an environment in our homes, schools, and churches where manners are taught and valued so that every child feels safe and becomes all they were created to be. A quote by William Arthur Ward makes people wonder whether they have been polite and good-mannered during the day: "God gave you a gift of 86, 400 seconds today. Have you used one to say thank you?"
For me writing is one of my favorite things to do. I enjoy how you can write something and look back on it and see how well you have developed as a writer. At the beginning of the semester my writing was all over the place and it wasn’t written as well as I would have liked, however, I feel that my supporting sources was something that was good in my first essays. I had hoped to improve my organization and my introductions and conclusions. I feel that I really did improve with both my organization and my introductions and conclusions, before taking this class I was an average writer, which I wanted to improve. My organization in essay before this class wasn’t as good as it should have been as well as my introductions and conclusions. I had hoped to become an overall better writer after taking this class.
This picture, probably the only one in existence of all my friends together, has more meaning than it seems. At first, it appears to be nothing more than a happy congregation of teenagers, all from the ages of fifteen to sixteen. In the background you can see a fence enclosing a sand volleyball court. My friends that are kneeling on the bottom row are Shawn (who is affectionately known as Goose because of his long neck and his last name being Gosselin) and Paul. The ones on the top row are, from left to right, Brad, Matt, Kayla, Charlie, Jenny, Greg, Brent, and Daniel. I am at the far right side. You can tell by the expressions on some of their faces, especially Paul's, that they weren't quite ready for the picture to be taken, for more reasons than one. First, there was someone else taking a picture at the same time. Also, most of them never could have guessed that the picture would have to be taken in the first place. After all, I was supposed to be with them forever, right? Wrong. This was my going-away party.
