This paper is being written to identify and provide demographic information on a population that has been through trauma and resiliency following motorcycle accidents. This population has been through some form of trauma whether they realize it or not. Some people deal with trauma differently. For example, many motorcyclists engage in drug and alcohol to feel most comfortable because they face traumatic situations on the road, daily. Many of the traumatic experiences are caused by automotive drivers. According to “Nolo” (2016), Crashes involving motorcycles and other vehicles account for fifty-six percent of motorcycle accident deaths. In the vast majority of these accidents, the car strikes the motorcycle from the front –seventy-eight percent of the time. This statistic creates a fight or flight mechanism in some individuals. For instance, when I experienced a driver seeing me going down a street that I clearly had the right away to and they continue to turn, then as they see how close I am they stop and almost makes me wreck out, my heart is racing and my mind is pacing back and forth on what to do next, what happens if this person does this or that. For a motorcyclist many tend to have the flight response. “This reaction occurs when responses to a perceived harmful event, attack, or threat to survive is engaged” (Cannon, 1915).

Which groups are more vulnerable to these accidents and to face TBI
The groups that I feel will be most vulnerable to a motorcycle accident that could lead up to a Traumatic Brain Injury are beginner riders, individuals who do stunts; also known as “stunters”, those that engage themselves in paraphernalia, and most of all four-wheel drivers who believe motorcycles do not ride like cars do ad should not be on the road together and those individuals who are not fully paying attention to what is around them while driving. The reason this particular group has a higher chance at TBI is because they normally go into a fight, flight, or freeze but sometimes just freeze. For many it is different but for some it is the same.
