Delegation in Management The professional world is a very diverse form of organization and precision. Without company confidence, company respect cannot be achieved. Success is the key to productive company but it is the steps that each company takes that can make or break the life of their company. Most companies are striving to stay ahead of the technology curve while others are just simply trying to meet the demands of their current prospects. Within each organization there is a median of control. Without control there would be no function. This control can be achieved in many different ways and the most efficient way is of course delegation. Delegation can be complicated or it can be very simple. This all depends on the process of delegation and how it is enforced within the company and within the employee population as a whole. The "span of control", plays a very vital part in the process of delegation. It has become very apparent that control is key in regards to delegation. Without control there is a sense of chaos that can be very detrimental to the success of the business. Delegation is a very common term within the company that I currently work for. My company has worked very hard in order to prefect a delegation process that has proven to work for the better of the company and the employees. Planning Within the company that I am employed at there is a large amount of planning that is involved in every project that we choose to undertake. This planning requires dedication and persistence in order to achieve a well thought out and productive plan of action. Within this process of planning, delegation comes into play. In order to finish any project there must be a delegated plan that enables each employee to know and understand his or her specific duties in order to get the job done. In my company planning is the foundation to our success and the plan that we have delegated has become the glue that holds our project together when times become confusing or unwilling. Delegation allows employers to give specific jobs t employees in order to form a whole in the end. Delegation is the definition to team work, in many cases when it is obvious that each employee must work together in order to make a better and more unique product. In the process of delegation, planning is the first step to a productive form of teamwork and company satisfaction.

What is leadership? Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to those that will follow. Those that follow will help to complete the mission. Leadership is a soft science, just as anthropology, sociology and psychology. It cannot be proven exactly what it is. Leadership is an art, the skillful application of leadership behaviors beyond techniques is much the same as the skillful application of brushstrokes by a master painter. Leadership is both rational and emotional. It involves both sides of human experience. It includes actions and influences based on reason and logic as well those based on inspiration and passion. Leadership is a social process shared among all members of a group. Leadership development comes through experience. We all learn from our different experiences. Whether positive or negative, they are our tools for growth and development.
Delegating tasks is one area that I must work on in my leadership skills. When a leader cannot delegate task appropriately, this can lead to their downfall. My action is to learn more of the reasons why I chose not to delegate tasks. When that piece is understood, I can then move forward in correcting and adjusting my delegating. Employee empowerment can be described as giving employees' accountability and ability to make choices about their work without managerial authorization. Good managers are expected to assist employees to improve job success by supporting, training, leading and giving advice. Employee empowerment can increase employees' motivation, job satisfaction, and loyalty to their companies. The power that managers comprise should now be shared with employees with confidence, assertion, inspiration, and support. Work decisions and the ability to control an individual’s amount of work are now being relied upon at lower-level management positions (Fragoso, 1999). Groups of empowered employees with little or no supervision are now being formed and these groups are being called self-managed teams. These groups can now solve work problems, make choices on schedules and operations, learn to do other employees’ jobs, and are held accountable for the quality of their finished products.

First, let us define what delegation is. Delegation is the handing of a task over to another person, usually a subordinate. It is the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person to carry out specific activities. It allows a subordinate to make decisions, i.e. it is a shift of decision-making authority from one organizational level to a lower one. Delegation, if properly done, is not abdication. The opposite of effective delegation is micromanagement, where a manager provides too much input, direction and review of 'delegated' work.
