Samar al masraf, 20 years old female from Iraq moved to the U.S two years ago. She moved with her family to the U.S as refugees because their life could be threatened if they stayed in their country Iraq. She used to move from country to another. This is the fourth country she actually settle in. moved out of Iraq when she was 12 to Syria. After finishing middle school there, she moved to the U.A.E and finish high school there. After her graduation she moved to the United States where she and her family feel more belonged and accepted. After three months in the U.S she found a job at 7-eleven and until now she still work there as a cashier associate, sometimes she complain about her job but in general she enjoy working there. Alcohol is rejected from the family, also drugs. But some of her relatives does drink alcohol, so it is just a family matter. Health never been as issue to her, or her family. But like her two brothers she wear glasses all the time because of astigmatism that they got from their father. At work, and college she is pretty much secretive, and that is why she doesn’t have a lot of friends, but she feels comfortable with that, because she rather stay with her family.
After a year of working at 7-eleven, she became a student at Thomas Nelson Community College, majoring in Business administration, she want to continue to her bachelor’s degree to be a human resource manager for an engineering company in Dubai. She believes that she will the best for this job because she enjoy helping people and love to see them smiling and relieved. Although that looks like a Doctor or nurse job, and a lot of people told her she will be great in any medical field, she can’t fined herself comfortable dealing with injured people, bloo...

...rough her life and because of moving from a place to another, she became less sociable, and more conservative to her family. It is so obvious that her personality change based on the kind of people around her. Usually she is active and sociable around her family and her family’s friends. And more shy and agreeable with new people. She is mostly introverted like her father, he is not a sociable person and feel better alone rather than being with others. But as an Arabic girl she is agreeable, because in her culture it is impolite to disagree with elder people even if they were wrong. Until now she cannot disagree with others as a matter of respect. In the end, her personality was mostly driven by her native culture, and her parents. And as the only daughter in the family, it is very important to be a decent girl and a woman, and most important thing is to stay strong.
