Beethoven was born and raised in the city of Bonn, although this date of birth is uncertain he was baptised on December 17, 1770 and in the culture at the time, babies were baptised within 24 hours of birth; so one could argue he was born December 16. Beethoven stubbornly believed he was born in 1772 and denied it even when shown official papers that proved otherwise. His father Johann van Beethoven was a musician in the court of the Elector of Cologne but was known more for his alcoholism. Beethoven 's mother, Maria Magdalena van Beethoven was many times described as a gentle, shy, and warm hearted women. Beethoven was the oldest in his family he had 7 siblings, but only two of his younger brothers survived, Caspar, born in 1774, and Johann, born in 1776. Beethoven 's grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven, was Bonn 's most famous musician and had endless pride for his grandson Ludwig. Beethoven 's father brutally taught him day and night, beating him each time he made a mistake, hesitated or just didn 't meet his standards. Many times he was locked in the cellar to study the violin, clavier and additional lessons from organists while deprived of sleep for extra hours of practice .
Beethoven 's father thought of his son as a musical prodigy, he arranged his first public recital in March 26, 1778. Meanwhile, Beethoven attended a Latin grade school named Tirocinium, where one of his classmates said, "Not a sign was to be discovered & of that spark of genius which glowed so brilliantly in him afterwards”. Struggling in school beethoven was a average student and some biographers believed he may have had mild dyslexia. ... hastily set out for Vienna in a unsteady cart, which belonged to a local milkman. The bad weather, that he encountered on this trip,had fatal consequences for Beethoven. By the time he got home he was extremely ill. He was diagnosed with Pneumonia which was further complicated by hydropsy and he soon had surgery. Knowing he had little time left, Beethoven made out his will and left his nephew Karl as sole beneficiary. Beethoven had his last breath. , at around five in the evening when a violent storm broke out over the city, flashes of lightning illuminating the bedroom. The heroic model of his lives in not just in people’s minds but also in the works of composers, and forever celebrates his unpreventable presence in their works. Beethoven inspiration many people from being a young musical prodigy to showing even in deafness he was able to hear the music in his mind.
